I love Udoka's assessment of Jalen's game. It's purely a shot selection issue and also some shot mechanics. Sometimes he has a good shot the moment he receives the ball and he decides instead to hunt for a better shot. That's rarely available in our offense, we're usually playing against set/slow halfcourt defenses. There are plenty of good shots available to him but he doesn't know when to impose himself and when to flow with the offense. He doesn't know which shots he's better at making (easy 3pters, transition and attacks on the rim). He doesn't seem to know which shots he misses the most often (mid range pull ups and difficult 3pters).

They have to fix his offensive diet so to speak. Wish Udoka would just be more specific with Jalen about which shots to take, but who knows maybe that's already going on behind the scenes.

I would also like to see him get some minutes with Amen once Amen gets rolling, perhaps that generates some easy transition and lob opportunities for Jalen.

The last few games have been very un…dynamic? For a lack of a better word.

I’d like to see him get back to the mistake-making, aggressive Jalen with improved defense and crisper passing. I’d rather that than timidity and trying too hard to fit into a system that he doesn’t really get yet

Jabari still does this as well. He's just been much better at making those sideline fadeaways and middies at the nail. Jabari will often hesitate on an open 3 to take a contested 3 later. His shot at the end of the Pacers game was fine. Just missed it but a good shot I'd be comfortable with him taking. Jalen just makes his life harder than he needs to. You can tell he's having to retrain his brain from the Silas/G-League/Prep era with terrible coaching and no rim protection. Jalen would've been so much better off going to Auburn and being coached under Pearl.
