Congrats to all of you true astros fans who have stuck with this team thru thick and thin, you all truely deserve what is happening right now with this team finally in the world series. I hope they win it all.

But for myself, I love Basketball and Football. I watch baseball and I pull for the stros, but I just don't have the love for it. I mean the baseball season has been going since MARCH. I tried to really get into the stros this year, I really pulled for them during the cardinals series, but i'll catch myself making plans with friends to "watch the game at a sports bar" or go to someones "world series party" and I think to myself, wait a minute, I don't even really like baseball that much so what the heck am I doing??

And I have a small problem with all the people I work with suddenly becoming big astros fans, the women up here wearing clemens jerseys or pettitte shirts and all they wanna do is talk about the games, when I know damn well that none of them gave a crap about baseball or the astros before this year, they are just looking for something to fulfull their time and are trying to feel important. That bothers me a bit and takes away from some of the true die hard fans.

There it is, I confessed, I watch baseball and pull for the stros because i'm a houstonian, but I just don't love it the way I do the Rockets. Good luck stros, I have decided to not watch any more games because Rockets pre season has started.

umm why bother starting a thread about anything? I figured there were others out there who got caught up in all this like me, that aren't actually baseball fans, especially considering that we are on a rockets message board.

To each his own. To me, basketball (ducks and covers) and football will always be the bridesmaids, so to speak. Baseball is the best game on the globe. There will be baseball in heaven, too--didn't you see the Costner/Jones flick?

it just strikes me as odd to come on a section of a basketball forum reserved for the local sports teams to start a thread that says, "eh, i don't care."

    not trying to be overly-critical.

i love basketball and it's been my favorite sport since i was 12, but before that was baseball. i'll always love baseball, even if it isn't as much as basketball. i've only become a HUGE astros fan since they moved their minor league team to round rock and i got a chance to see pretty much all those guys in person in the minors. i've always been an astros fan, because my dad loves them and grew up in houston and saw them from the beginning.

but there are still alot of us who may be frustrated and upset that we're struggling in the WS but i'm sticking with my team through and through. i still believe in this team. they've bounced back from everything this season, so why not a 2-0 lead for the sox?

    GO ASTROS!!!

Thank you for your rant on letting us all know just how you feel about baseball. I sure hope that EVERYONE who doesn't enjoy any of the major sports as much as the other posts three paragraph rants about it here... that should be some fun reading!!!

    /end sarcasm

reggie, you're not the only one, I pretty much agree with every you said, but you could have waited until after the series to post this.

I confessed that I was a fair weather fan when it came to baseball. Too bad more people can't/won't do the same.

Sorry. I would have posted it even if the stros were up 2-0. It all just hit me this morning and I wanted to share it.

Why do you think clutch takes the board down every time something crazy happens to the astros. He did it when Pujols hit that jack and he did it last night. Probably because he doesn't want to pay bandwidth costs for 100's of people coming on here and whining about the astros when all the time and money was put into this board for the Rockets. (thats my theory)

Well, counting preseason, baseball runs March-October (8 months) and basketball runs October-June (8 1/2 - 9 months), so baseball takes less time to finish 162 games and playoffs than basketball takes to finish 82 and playoffs.

Last I checked people contribute to help fund the board, so I doubt that them wanting to talk about the Astros had anything to do with it... To be honest, if there wasn't a place to talk about the Astros I wouldn't even be here. My Astros to Rockets post ratio is like 100 to 1... I love the Rockets, but I don't enjoy talking basketball because it isn't nearly as statistical or historic as baseball.

I'm tired of baseball as well. Now that I've helped the Sox win a couple of World Series games, I think I am going to whip out my Ouija board and make sure the Astros win the next four straight. If I couldn't win a World Series while I was a player, the current White Sox don't deserve to win one either.

    Sincerely,

The Ghost of Shoeless Joe Jackson

Astros World Series > Rockets Pre Season

    Is there really a contest?

Reggie, I totally agree with you about the bandwagon. On Friday my office had a "Astros gear and Jeans" day. All these people were wearing these newly purchased or recently dusted off Astros jeresey and babbling about the game. I swear to god, if any of them start trying to do that when the Rocks go deep in the playoffs I will come up to them and start screaming 'WHERE WERE YOU IN THE KELVIN CATO/MO TAYLOR YEARS MOTHER F*CKERS!?!?!'
I always get a kick out of the cameras at playoff games that show housewives in obviously newly purchase memorabilia biting their nails as if they actually have been invested in the team for more than 2 weeks.

I have to respectfully disagree with everyone piling on reg for this thread. If it's not an appropriate entire thread, then let the mods decide. I believe the whining about his post is the real waste of bandwidth. I also agree--let those who think it's great but just can't get into it all that much share that feeling if they want to. It's not like he mooned Drayton McLane or TP's Roger's house or something.
