I'm sure the Pistons brass called Larry Brown the second he resigned

At that point, he probably already had the Pistons job as first priority - the easiest path to the finals. His poor wife will have to live in Detroit though. My point is that the Rockets never had a chance.

I'm sure Brown had the Rox #1 if the Pistons weren't so dang opportunistic. I'd call it getting knocked out by the 'third fist'. There really wasn't much Alexander could do, and I'm sure he tried his darndest. It also explains why CD keeps repeating that they're taking their time - they had to wait out Larry's final decision.

If the Rockets don't make an immediate announcement after Brown's press conference, I'd suspect they'd want to interview Carlisle first (I hope). Otherwise I'd see them announcing Dunleavy the next day or so. IMO, JVG just doesn't fit the 'high-caliber, proven winner' that Alexander vowed to get.

I wouldn't be surprised if they were talking before he resigned.

Geeze, it isn't like it takes a lot of background work to figure out if you want Larry Brown as your coach.

You ask him if he wants to coach your team. He answers yes or no. If no, you hang up, if yes you ask him how much he wants.

You don't need to take weeks to figure out what he's going to do, check references, etc. It's known.

Nor does it take long to figure out that Brown wants a quick way back to the Finals. Detroit offers that; Houston doesn't despite what the Houston Homers say.

screw brown! if he didnt want to come here than i dont want him here. if it all came down to money in the end than thats not the kind of coach that i would want anyway.

he wouldnt have stuck around too long...
he would have wanted more managerial and personel input...
its often mentioned how he leaves teams in a total state of disarray.
