Game 7, 32 minutes, 0-2 FG, 2 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 point. A crucial missed free throw and a jumped-in-the-air-with-nowhere-to-go turnover leading to a bucket at the other end in the final 2 minutes.

But hey, at least he picked a team with a future.

I am dumbfounded by what had happened to him. He was a VERY GOOD PG in milwaukee but then he decided to go Steve Francis in Miami. And for a PG to no hit his FTs? He wasn't much of a factor in this series at all.

I was under the impression we never seriously went after him last year.

[Jim Rome]Damon Jones is a piece of crap[/Jim Rome]

I am so glad we he is not our problem. What a waste. What a fake. What a joke. It is not even just about this game but his whole playoffs and most of the reg. season.

He looks like a terrible defender out there. And what the hell is up with his weird, large leg kick/step when he starts setting up the offense?

He averaged 15.6 pts against Wiz & Nets but only 8.0 againt Pistons. Guess Billips shut him down. Also shot 48% overall and 43% from 3. Had 3.53 TO/A ratio. Overall not bad, but layed and egg there at the end - like Sura in the playoffs.

Don't be too hard on Damon. He went along for the ride and had a decent year. He was the perfect player to benefit from having DWade and Shaq on his team. He didn't need to dish much because Wade took care of that. All he had to do was park himself outside the arc and wait for the ball.

The people who swooned on him earlier in the year based on his stats either never saw the Heat play or never bothered watching what Damon actually did, which wasn't much besides wait for the ball. DWade was both PG & SG on that team.

I have a soft spot for Damon like some others, but we can't be fooled into thinking he is any kind of difference maker. A PG upgrade will be a major item for the Heat and I doubt he will be with them next season except as a reserve. He's a good PG backup at best, plain and simple. If we trade Mike James, I'd welcome him here assuming we get a better starter.

    Yeah,

I am glad we kept our PGs instead.

How did ours shoot in the semi finals and confernce finals?

Oh, that's right, we lost in the FIRST ROUND !

Yeah, I'm so glad we ended up with Charlie Ward rather than a scrub like Damon Jones.

why so hard Jones? I don't blame him for choosing Miami over Houston. He is not young any more and that was probably his best and last chance to get a ring. Anyway last time we had him they released him before the season started.

To add insult to injury he sprained his ankle while skipping down the court. Steve Francis better be careful.

He's a pretty good bowler. He won a celebrity bowling contest. Not to mention that his Puffy look was damn funny. I like him.

wow, that's the definition of poor PG play. but remember everyone this is exactly what damon jones is and has been his whole career. a guy who can shoot A LOT of 3's and make a decent % of them. he's not a great ball handler, passer, or defender. i would rather have james and sura.

    he actually meant 3.5 ast/to.

for the first 6 games of the pistons series, jones put up 9 pts, 5 ast, and 3 rebounds while shooting 8-21 on 3's. he had a ridiculous 5.8 ast/to ratio, which was still 5.2 after game 7.

sure he sucked in game 7, and his arrogance was getting annoying (kinda like bowen's smirks since both get away with it by being carried by more talented teammates) but he's a nice pg to have. he drained tons of open 3's all season for miami, and those are the same open 3's he would've had w/ yao and tmac, which is why he would've been nice to have. better than sura? i don't know. sura's rebounding and toughness were sorely needed, but jones hitting 3 after 3 certainly wouldn't have hurt all season. but just like our role players, since the pistons weren't doubling on shaq and wade in this game, he couldn't do much else to help offensively. so even though i was happy to see him brick that free throw, this game doesn't cancel out a season's worth of positive contributions, especially considering his very reasonable contract.

Will, I CRINGED when I saw that "jumped-in-the-air-with-nowhere-to-go turnover" play! Just HORRIBLE late game execution! Why didnt he just throw it back to his buddy Shaq? Shaq was playing well at that time!

Jones is going to opt out of his deal I am sure to get a better one. It will be interesting to see what Miami does. Or if they look somehwere else like Damon Stoudamire or someone like that.

On a personal side note....I dont like the way Jones has carried himself these playoffs. I dont like his pompus attitude he has brought. He acts like a star when he is just a role player that tugged on Shaq's and Wade's coattails.
