Every other segment is about the Yankees, Red Sox, or Clemens. Jeez, I can see Clemens' pubes in Peter Gammons and Karl Ravich's teeth. So freaking annoying.
I would almost rather see a minute more of each game that goes on than seeing the same story over and over again.
i was watching sportscenter this morning...they showed the Yanks/Red Sox game first. no problem with that. then they followed it up showing Clemens AA start. my 7 year old says: "geez, do we really need to see this? do they think i care about roger clemens pitching against minor leaguers?" i love my son.
It's interesting. I've noticed that even other media members are starting to complain about the overwhelming coverage of specific teams in each sport on ESPN. I was listening to a national radio show the other day and the guy said, "I'm from New York, and even I'M tired of hearing about the Yankees on national sports shows." Today, I heard several sports news segments on the radio and each time they did a list of games tonight, the only teams they listed were big east coast cities: New York, Boston, Philadelphia, Chicago. That was it. Sigh.
One day (hopefully) soon, a competitor for ESPN will rise up. ESPN is driving this to happen by the way they create news and controversy instead of just reporting it. They have too much control over sports news and discussion. On the radio, Colin Cowpatch is the worst offender at shoving the Yankees and Red Sox down everyone's throat. The good thing is with Matt now on with Lance, AM610's Morning Show is great!
I agree. Whenever it's the Yankees/Red Sox I think everyone except the baseball guys at ESPN get the week off.
The Yankees/Red Sox thing is all over the sports media, not just ESPN. I think I remember Fox showing a preseason game between them on national TV a few years ago. I couldn't give a frogs' fat ass about either team, personally.
I'm sick of still seeing Mel Kiper's draft grades scrolling across the bottom of the screen whenever they have their daily NFL summer coverage.
they do it for the market..big corporations care about their $$, more than entertaining all fans, theyd rather cover NY/BOS baseball and scoop in their money
To be fair, they covered his minor league starts with the Astros last year too (remember him giving the single A team clubhouse flat screen TVs and all that fun?), and none of us were complaining about that. ESPN, like any media, is going to cater to their audience. For all the people here complaining, everyone still watches them.
Thats the one thing they are being encouraged to do. They do hockey a lot more often and remember Womens College Basketball? The WNBA is a joke though.
But even though they can't dunk, they play a more fundamentaly sound, team oriented game that is more entertaining than men's basketball.
You just now noticed this? A few years ago replace 'Roger Clemens' with 'Barry Bonds' and it was the same thing.
When was the last time ESPN had a full game highlight of a minor league game with an interview after?
There was a time when i would not miss sports center for anything. It was the best show to just catch up on things. Right now i could care less if i catch. I hate having to wait through tons of nonsense to get to the good stuff. And if it doesn't have to do with the east or west coast the spot is like 1 minute and done... It's not fun anymore.
