Im so sick of people making such a big deal about height and AB and Lowry. Small guys can be players too. Calvin Murphy John Stockton Isaiah Thomas Chris Paul There's others too. Just because you aren't a 6'3 pg with incredible jets and a killer jumpshot you can play pg in the NBA and start for the rockets. If you want a guy whose 6'3 with crazy intangibles lets tank a season and you'll get a guy like derrick rose, for now we have AB who is lightning in a bottle and had 7 rebounds and 8 assists last night along with a couple 3's which derrick rose can't hit. Even if you have prototypical guys at every position like Memphis, they still suck. Adelman's offense requires guys who can shoot. TMAC and rafer cannot do that. When adelman was leading Sactown to the WCF he was 8 deep in shooters, at the end of the day the point of bball is to put the ball in the hole and 8-27 nights from TMAC and rafer cant help us. Im not saying rafer is or isnt better than brooks. Rafer on Golden state, guarantee he leads the league in dimes, but in our offense we need a pg who can hit the open shot like brooks. Lowry is nice because he can get us in the penalty early and that'll help on all the fouls with Yao. Look at Rick's old team Adelman's Kings bibby christie peja cwebb divac bobby jackson turkoglu jon barry
I think height is only one factor for measuring a basketball player's potential. As I have said before, if Yao were 4 inches shorter, his skill set with much quicker movement would make him at least a 25/12 player. We are now witnessing the growth of a pair of two 6-footers upgrading the status of the Rox PG position. I believe the Aaron and Kyle combo can make a great impact and Rox games from now on would be exciting and entertaining. In Rox I trust, go Rox!
fooling yourselves..... nice list of 5 guys out of the existence of the NBA......and lets only count the GOOD players which neither AB or Lowry are yet or may ever be.
Chris Paul Nate Robinson Allen Iverson Mo Williams Jameer Nelson T.J. Ford Derek Fisher Mike Conley Eddie House J.J. Barea Bobby Jackson Earl Watson Need I name more?
Height is a value in the league. If you were building an NBA player from scratch you would like for that player to be taller than the avg height for his position regardless of what that is. However, it tends to be over-valued as well, and Morey in his time here has exploited that to get some major talents when others did not consider them as valuable as he did. Scola, Landry, Brooks, and now Lowry are the good examples. That said, you cannot have a team full of underrated undersized players. The height needs to come from somewhere on the team. Yao helps a lot, but so do Ron, Shane, and T-Mac when he used to be a Rocket.
Is Scola really undersized? He may be underathletic but his true height (w/o shoes) is 6'9 according to stuff I've read. That would make him 6'10 by NBA standards, right? And he isn't a stick figure. He has a pretty solid build so he's not undersized in that respect either.
I like PGs with size. It allows them to switch on to bigger guards if the situation calls for it more effectively, and it also gives them better angles for the post entry pass.

The guy just wants to believe otherwise like a lot of other members on this board simply because T-Mac never could fit in with RA's motion offense.
for Every Chris Paul, Jameer Nelson, Mugsy Bogues or Isiah Thomas you mention there's going to be a Speedy Claxton, Tyronne Lue, Darrick Martin or Mike Wilks. These players aren't good or bad because they're short. The capabilities of these players ALONG with their physical attributes will be what defines them as a player.
I agree with you but it's interesting to look back at some of the PGs on championship teams. Sure, there was Magic and Oscar but there was also Fisher, Parker, Avery Johnson, Jason Williams, Rondo, Isiah, Cousy, etc... I'm just considering size here, obviously, not talent, who else was on the team, etc... You are right about the advantages of a PG with height but there are countless examples of elite teams with shorter PGs. The greatest assist man of all-time, John Stockton, was 6'1 with short arms.
