I've been quoting announcers lately... so here's what the LA Clippers announcer just screamed in to the mic (this is verbatim)...

"Cuttino Mobley should be ASHAMED of himself!! Here's a player complaining to the ref while his man runs uncontested for a slam that is basically the gamebreaker!!!!" (this while the crowd is going nuts because Eric Piatkowski just slammed easily to ice the game)

Since Piatkowski is NOT Mobley's responsibility in that situation, that just shows you how stupid the announcer is.

A player cannot go to the basket, and then guard an opposing player who releases when the shot is taken. Piatkowski should have been covered by Steve or Moochie.

These announcers showed Houston more respect than just about any I heard this year. Earlier, they had commented on how Stevie would let the Refs know when they missed a call, but he would be back in the game immediately and not belabor the point.

Cuttino is an outstanding player, but he has done this before. He needs to get over it.

There was no way moochie or steve could have gotten back on that play.. I am so sick of seeing our guys complain on EVERY call.. I swear thats why we don't get the benefit of the doubt on most calls. Mobley should have run back and intercepted that pass, period!

Is there a 3 year old inside of Cato, he was pushed around like a little sissy in the first half. He single handedly killed the Rockets. He sucked against the Kings too. Damn I miss Dream! The season is not over, we still have a shot. Now we MUST beat Utah and Seattle.

We should just go ahead and lay low for these last few games because the playoffs are out of the question. Next year we will kick some a** but this year the only players who really cared were Steve,Cat,Moochie. Everyone else gave up. Its no excuse to lose to the damn Clippers 3 times in 1 year.

Jim-I assume you've watched the Rockets for a long time... And with that, you don't know the term team defense...

Cuttino needed to realize that he was the last guy back... The reason why Mocchie and Steve weren't were because they were trying to get themselves in positon to score, without thinking that Mobley would jack up the shot...

If Mobley doesn't jack the shot up, Piatkowski doesn't get the layup... Plain and simple...

Mobley wasn't going to the basket, he was around the top of the key taking a jump shot. He did NOT follow his shot. He simply peeled off to complain to the referee while Piatkowski broke doen the court. Granted, the uninspired play of the Rockets had more to do with them losing than that particular incident, but it should be used during film time for learning.

Why would they go for 2 anyway? They needed a three. It was a double-dip from Cuttino. But, I am not blaming him for this loss. Today, I'm going to blame it on the entire team. They worked together as a team- to lose this game.

Geez, I swear people sit next to their T.V. just waiting for a negative thing for Mobley to pop up so they can post about.

Congrats RockMillenium on being the first to simply dismiss a valid point -- hell, a quote mind you -- as "Mobley bashing".

    Unreal.

TheFreak, The Cat, heypee... see what we have to put up with?

you know Mill, people can say something bad about Mobley w/o being bashers. He will make mistakes from time to time, won't he?

That was a bad play about Mobley. He may get criticized unfairly sometimes, but this is warranted.

Jeez, sometimes it seems like Mobley could shoot your moms in the head, and you guys would be defending his shot.

Sorry, but you guys are wrong, in my opinion. Piatkowski was not guarding Mobley, and when Piatkowski released on the shot, it was the responsibility of whoever Piatkowski was guarding to follow him down the floor. That is basic basketball, and that was my only point.

First of all I'm as big a fan as anyone of Mobley, but damn that was a dumb shot he took. Then he should have tried to stop Piatkowski, no matter who's man it is because he was closest, instead of arguing to the ref. The team lost this game as a whole, but Mobley could have did better on this play.

Not really Clutch...what do you have to put up with???

Since you write all the recaps, choose all the Hot Topic quotes that bash Mobley, participate greatly in reactionary threads and call them valid criticism or venting, and quote other team's announcers like they are champions of Mobley Realists....seems like you have multiple ways to vent your frustrations that you "have to put up with."

What about me? Verse and I are left waiting for the prime time to pounce on lazy Mobley basher for our sheer pleasure. [IMG]

    Like this time!!

Don't say that you put up with a lot until you show me one Hot Topic quote THIS YEAR that tauted why many posters think the most dangerous offensive threat on this team is...Cuttino Mobley.

    Show Me the quote!!

Who made that quote? Bill Walton, the most intelligent color man in pro sportscasting?

Or was it the play-by-play guy?

"As for Cuttino, what else can you say? Yeah he was 4 of 15, but when we needed a goto man in the 4th who does Rudy call on? The Cat. He was like 14 of 14 from the ft line ... another reason I want the ball in his hands at the end of the game. What a luxury to have a Cuttino or a Francis to go to at the end of the game."

    February 9, 2001 by Smeg
"With 6 minutes left in the first Half cat has 21 points on 8 of 9 shooting from the field, 4 of 5 from the 3pt line and 3 rebounds. Nice shooting, 'Jack'."

    November 17, 2000 by Pole
"Well, it might be Francis' team, but after 10 games, Mobley is scoring more points per game (with both a better FG% and a better 3 point FG%) than Francis. And he's doing it with just slightly more than three quarters of the minutes that Francis is logging."

For the entire season, there are three positive posts about Mobley. Guess how many negative ones there are? Three.

Accusing me of being biased against Mobley on the site? Apology accepted, jackass.
