They had 17 points and 26 rebounds between Landry, Scola, and Hayes. The last time we had that type of productivity from our 4 position, Charles Barkley weighed less than 300 pounds.

Yeah. They are a big reason we've become such a fierce rebounding team. And the team who controls the boards controls the game (most of the time)

Last year, we had softie Juwan Howard whose only offense was jump shots. We were weak last year because we had to depend so much on Yao and T-mac.

I admit I didn't see the game but I feel if Scola hadn't gotten into foul trouble we would gotten more points from the 4.
They are doing a good job.

Chuck Hayes has no business averaging 20+ mins/game on a semi-decent team, much less a good one. Scola and Landry have taken the position to another level.

Jeezus, did Chuck do something to your family? The guy plays his heart out for the team, but we got got better players in there now. There's no need for you to continue to tear into him in this thread.

Just wait. The Chuckwagon is gonna come in real handy later this season/postseason.

That said, great to see Landry and Scola play so well. Neither plays like a rookie and they both are great energy guys with offensive games

Chill out. It's nothing personal at all. Chuck's has more heart and determination than 90% of NBA players. It's his skillset. I like having him on the team but let's face it, he's better suited as a 3rd string PF than starter.

Chuck can't make wide open layups... the criticism's deserved. He shouldn't be taking 20 minutes a game from Scola and Landry.

I agree. Scola and Landry are nice. I love having these two on our team but neither one is a good post defender. Maybe that will change as they learn the NBA game but as of right now we need Chuck when we face elite PFs. It just so happens nearly everyone in the West has an elite PF these days.

The Three-headed PF monster is a thing of beauty.

Chuck did a hell of a job guarding West tonight. His defense was huge in keeping the Hornets from making a run with Yao out.

Firstly, I'll take Chuck's heart and determination over the skillset of half the PFs in this league. Chuck deserved the minutes he got last year and through the first couple months of this season; its not his fault we didn't have better options. I just have too much respect and admiration for what he's done for us to ever say "he has no business being anything but a 3rd string PF". But I guess that's just me speaking as a fan, as opposed to an impartial observer.

I think having Scola start and playing Landry has moved us up to a wayyyy better team

Well, he's right.. to an extent. I can't get over Chuck's inability to make simple layups.. it's mind boggling really. That said, he's a hell of a defender. He got minutes tonight because Scola was in foul trouble, and Yao/Landry tandem can't play the entire time. He did a good job on West. Chuck should only see the floor in a defensive specialist role.. and even in that role, only if we're in foul trouble or the PF is outright killing us on offense.

I have no argument against that, as long as Scola and Landry are playing like they've been playing the last 2-3 weeks. They've been awesome.

Tell David West that.. unless you don't consider him elite?

Both of them got under his skin with their defense..

I never said Chuck shuts down everyone.

Chuck is consistently a very good to great post defender. Scola has a few crafty moves but is below average overall as a post defender. Landry is not a good defender at all.

I've seen Tmac light up Artest and Bowen but let Rashard Lewis get under his skin. I guess Rashard Lewis is now the premier perimeter defender in the league?

it is nice to have 3 guys to turn to at the position who all give you something.

i sometimes feel bad for chuck going from 30+ minutes last year to getting very few minutes right now, especially b/c he's worked so hard, on and off the court, to squeeze every last bit out of his talent. but he was struggling to even make an nba roster a couple of years ago and now has "made it" with the 4 year contract we gave him in the offseason and now he's playing minutes more in line with his skills on a good team so i can't feel too bad. he did what he could last year as our best pf, but it's nice to have other options.

scola gives us the guy with the versatile offensive game who doesn't hurt us too much on defense and on the boards. landry gives us the guy with amazing finishing ability and even something of a jumper who is just ridiculous on the boards but who isn't the greatest on D. and then if either of them are struggling too much with a good PF, we can sick the chuckwagon on them and still get the ridiculous rebounding.

it is really fun when both chuck and landry are on the court together b/c they just start sucking up the rebounds. the only problem is making sure they don't kill each other chasing down a loose ball.
