Let me preface this with I don't think this would ever go down because Nellie loves Finley and Rudy T loves Cat too much. Also let me state that Cat is my favorite Rocks player because he leaves all on the court every night and he signed for cheap because of his loyalty. However I think this would be a good trade for both teams.

Houston trades: C Kelvin Cato (4.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 16.5 minutes)
SG Cuttino Mobley (18.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 42.0 minutes)
Houston receives: SG Michael Finley (19.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 3.0 apg in 39.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -2.7 ppg, -4.2 rpg, and -0.2 apg.

Dallas trades: SG Michael Finley (19.7 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 3.0 apg in 39.0 minutes)
Dallas receives: C Kelvin Cato (4.3 ppg, 5.9 rpg, 0.3 apg in 59 games)
SG Cuttino Mobley (18.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 60 games)
Change in team outlook: +2.7 ppg, +4.2 rpg, and +0.2 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Reasons why the Rocks would do it. Finley is a borderline all-star who is a veteran. He also get alot of his points from open jumpshots which is what we need with Yao and Francis getting into the paint. Cato is also going to get less time next year as Yao develops.

Reasons why the Mavs would do it. Dallas needs interior D in the worse way. They won't go anywhere until they can stop the layup drills. Cuttino is not a big dropoff from Finley offensively and Dallas really doesn't need Finley's offensive production with Nash and Nitwitz.

This is a decent swap for both teams in terms of the stats. I'd love to do it because Finley will help make us a championship contender right away. Dallas would almost do it because it does help them with rebound, interior defense and they still get a score in Mobley. Trouble is Dallas won't do it cause they have noone else playing the 3. You need to manufacture a 3-way swap somehow to get Dallas a SF.

I'm starting a petition to get rockbox a promotion so he'll have more job duties and prevent "slow days"

Hmm, maybe the Rockets are interested in trading for Vin Baker. How about Baker and J.R. Bremer for Cuttino Mobley? Hmm, maybe the Rockets should throw in Eddie Griffin too.

Finley is still Dallas' franchise player (or team leader at the least.) He has as well-rounded an offensive game as any, and is an excellent rebounder. For years he was the team's only all-star caliber player. Why would they do that trade?

I, for one, thinkk they would JUMP at that trade with a LIGHT modification:

    Mobley
    Cato
    Rice

    for

    Finley
Shawn Bradley or a C of their choice

Cato brings great toughness, and the scoring they lose at the 2 with FInley, they get back with Rce at the 3, and Lafrentz at C. They also get extra toughness from Cato.

This is assuming they don't win the championship, at which point, Cuban will begin dealing again.

Only problem is, you can argue that the trade doesn't improve Dallas. They pretty much stay the same.

Also, we have an aging Micheal Finley on a VERY LARGE and VERY LONG contract.

yea lets get bradley, then we have a 7'5'' and 7'6'' playing at the same time, that means no layups like the rockets always like to give up hehe

    Nice.
    I don't care.
    Sounds fine.

Michael Finley is awesome. He is one of my favorite players. He isn't crazy and he doesn't make too many dumb mistakes. He's just awesome. He could be even better in Houston..maybe. That's what we need...since Mobley is not the greatest player ever and Yao will be playing more. This leaves no playing time for Cato.

For Dallas, they get Cuttino Mobley. Mobley will provide almost as much as Finley gives. Mobley is also a good defender. He would fit kinda well with them. Cato would probably be exactly what Dallas wants. They need an aggressive rebounding center like Cato. They don't care about money. But too bad he has no offense. Almost all their players can score.

Finley on the Rockets would be great.

SF Terence Morris (3.5 ppg, 2.7 rpg, 0.5 apg in 13.5 minutes)

It is hilarious. I would do it in a New York minute, I even throw in Moochie, Cato, Larry and Rudy too.
    What is McHale's phone number?

I love Steve and all, but I'd honestly throw Steve into any trade involving KG.

To even DREAM of getting a player like KG, you MUST offer some star quality and leadership. We're not getting rid of Yao, and Steve is the only other star we have.

    Steve
    Mobley
    Rice

    for

    KG
    Hudson
    Peeler

PLUS, the exchange of any other 2 equal salary players (their choice).

I mean, who can stop a KG/Yao duo? Yao's post presence and clutch play would make them unstopable. A new breed.

    So far, championships have been

    Guard/Forward
    Big Man/Guard

Have we seen dominant big man, dominant forward in this mold?

    Wow.

Yeah. But I don't want Kevin Garnett and his $21 million contract. Yeah...he's good.

But I don't want Steve Francis to leave!!! :(

Of course.....I don't think Minnesota is gonna let go of someone that good!!!!

Kevin Garnett won't be able to make that much on his extension, in a year. SO it's only 21M for one year basically.

you sure?? i'm almost positive minnesota can sign him to an extension that starts out higher than the end of his previous contract (like shaq did with his 3 yr 88.5 mill extension). espn had an article about him signing a 300 million dollar contract if he had the max raises and did it for 7 years. with a trade, we would get bird rights and be able to do the same thing.

    Oh yeah, you're right.

But I doubt he's going to do it wherever he is.

He has seen how his team suffers with that kind of thing and how his team can never win or have another MAX player with him making that much.

His new contract extension is being re-negotiated as the MAX per the current CBA.

Instead of Steve Francis, what about a package of picks?

Would KG's salary put either Minny or Houston out of the Gary Payton derby next season?

    Just make it simple:

(Rockets team - Francis - Yao) for KG

With Francis, Yao and KG we can play 3-5 and still win. :D

Sounds to be a nice trade. But I don't think any trade in players would be helpful to Rox. The most problem on Rox is the Coach and their strategy, not the player.
