And I bet Van Gundy is glad too. The Rockets played horrible down the stretch in the 4th. Pure lazy basketball. With about a minute in a half to go they finally kicked it into gear and started playing to win. That last minute and a half was inspired basketball.

If the Rockets had won this game it might have the negative effect of encouraging the type of laziness we saw during the 4th quarter when New Orleans took control.

Instead the Rockets will hopefully realize that any NBA team can beat you unless you give it your all. I think tonight's result along with some Van Gundy speeches will get this team fired up and on the right track.

I agree-- I HATE to lose but if this is going to drill it in their thick heads that ANYONE can get beat by any team-maybe they will quit taking opponents lightly.

Games like these should not be lessons anymore. These 'lessons' should learned at this stage of the season.

Nothing good can come out of losing the worst team at your own home court. See Memphis.

We need to win 4 games 1st somehow, then talk about the playoff.

I don't know if I'm glad they lost. The loss may cause an attitude adjustment that will help them the rest of the season. These 4th quarter lapses must stop.

I'm wondering if the guards have hit the wall after a long season. The fresh legs are gone and maybe this is affecting the jump shooting. This doesn't bode too well for the team making a hard run deep in the playoffs. We can also dump the fantasy of keeping the entire backcourt intact for next year. We need another young shooter or two, someone like a Joe Johnson, Wally Szczerbiak or Peja who can be a more reliable 3rd option.

I know, I know. When pigs fly. But if anybody can pull it off, CD's the man.

I thought they had already learned their lesson after they lost to bobcats twice.

RainMan is every bit as responsible for this loss as the players (not including Deke and Spoon)!! A coach should be able to inspire and when necessary, adapt and compensate for deficiencies in his team on a night by night basis!!

Why for example did JVG not put T-Mac on Anderson (the main offensive threat in the 4th and the reason Deke fouled out). T-mac was the only person on the court with the size and speed to match him....

Why was there no concerted effort to set picks for T-mac to drive to the hole?

Why not play Baker after Deke fouled out? I know, the last option wouldn't have made much difference at that point, but the lack of inspiration, and imagination by Rainman is excruciating during games like this...

Oh, and BTW, I think any team we face in Round 1 will only have to watch this game and the game with the Spurs to figure out how to defend this team: Let T-mac get his, but play tight 1:1 ball against Yao and everyone else.

As the game wears on, our team due to age will tire, miss shots and ultimately give up on defense!!

Let Rainman figure out how to compensate for that

you mean aside from the fact that Chris Anderson is a PF and T-Mac is SG or SF at best?

Outside of that, I agree completley:rolleyes:

Their shooting the last two weeks has been HORRIBLE... tonights game was simply the icing on the cake. Good Lord, make a freaking basket...

They should have Brake Check sponsor them per each time the team shoots an air ball instead of blocked shots, at least they'd make more money for the charity.

    RocketsFAN3035 -

In that Rox home game agains the Lakers after the All Star break ... the one they almost lost, T-Mac was put on Lamar Odom, known to play PF for the Lakers in the last minute of that game... that match-up was the difference.

Yes, Anderson has some height on T-Mac, but it's certainly a better option than having Spoon or Deke guard him, especially since he was SHREDDING the Rox defense and getting to the foul line consistently!!! Having to matchup with T-Mac would have put a stop to his driving, and we might have had a shot at winning the game.

I know you were happy with your little sarcastic comment, but next time consider the potential of thinking creatively instead of ridiculing something because at first glance the notion seems far-fetched.

    ;)

This game, along with the rest of the regular season is meaningless.

    Ditto

I actually found myself rooting against them in the end

    they played like garbage

and NO - its not like the SA game. The Spurs still have a good team and a great system - they outplayed us down the stretch

    this was just garbage
