Why the hell did Cleveland get to keep the Browns name and we didn't get to keep the Oilers?

Didnt Bud Adams retire the name?

But 'Luv ya Blue' forever!!! Screw the Titans, Vince is the only reason I still pay them any attention.

Yeah he retained the rights to the name but Cleveland demanded they get a new franchise and that they got to keep the name/history. That we didn't is a traveshamockery. I decision of stuplendiferous proportions.

There wasn't as much outcry from the fans in Houston as there was in Cleveland. We hardcore fans, it hurt us just as much, but we didn't start a riot in the Astrodome like the Cleveland fans did.

The NFL had no choice but to leave the Browns name in Cleveland.

In retrospect not keeping the name was a huge mistake.

Being a native Texan I like the sound of Houston Texans.

I also love the logo and I am found of the uni's. That being said man I miss the name Oilers and as much as I like the bull that Oil Derrick was Houston.

Oh well it's 2006 and I don't want to think back to those days we have the Texans and they are my team!

If only we could get that song back!

Look out Football here we come Houston Texans number 1!

Anyone remember that pathetic "rally" at city hall (that was mysteriously scheduled for 10am on a Tuesday morning...) that no one went to? I still think that was some kind of a ploy to make it look like we didn't care about the Oilers leaving. It was all over ESPN that night.

If they would have scheduled it for a Saturday morning and/or actually publisised it, there would have been a helluva lot more people there.

The Oilers left on such bad terms that I think most fans wanted nothing to do with that team, especially Bud Adams. They wanted a fresh start. I think the crappiness of the Texans is causing some post breakup nostalgia. If you break up with a girl who was a b****, then start dating a possessive psycho b****, the original girlfriend doesn't seem that bad in comparison.

I think if you took a poll among Houstonians, I'd bet cash money that the the majority would NOT want the old logo or colors back.

As good a commissioner as Paul Tagliabue might have been, he always seemed to love Bud Adams.

I hated the name "Texans" and I think their entire uniform/color scheme sucks.

I really, really wished they would have came back as the Oilers.

However, since thats not gonna happen, I hope that their NEW uniforms use a lot more RED

Its the color of Houston. period.

"Because she is too ugly to kiss goodbye." -when asked by Bob Costas why he took his wife with on road games.

That's kind of how I feel about the Earlers.

    More good one's from Bum:

"Rogers sees daylight. Campbell makes daylight."

"Winning is only half of it. Having fun winning is the other half."

"I don't know if Earl's in a class by himself, but it sure don't take long to call roll."

the run 'n shoot oilers were the ones i most closely identified with, given my age.

i LOVED those teams. i'm hoping the texans can replace that one day.

I miss the Oilers too. I want to be a Texans fan but it is awfully difficult. I doubt I will ever love them like I did the Oilers.
