And I was out of power for freaking 2 days!

I cannot imagine how bad the winds were there for so long.. they got up to 60-70mph here for about two hours.

Kentucky is not supposed to get your hurricanes! ;)

At any rate, I just had to vent.

Lord, this is going to turn into one of those "our traffic is worse than your traffic" threads... :D

*EDIT* : Which reminds me of the time a friend from Kentucky griped about her job changing and how she would have to drive for a whopping 20 minutes to get to work instead of the usual 5. I cried.

Yeah, this was a massive storm, particularly due to its size and broad windfield as well as the obvious surge. That leads to it more widespread damage at landfall, and also slower weakening once inland.

If nothing else, I really hope people stop making such a big deal out of "OMG Cat 2/Cat 3/Cat 4!!!" after this. A Cat 2 like this one is much, much scarier than a tightly wrapped Cat 4.

LOL Well I feel for you. You have to understand everything here is so much more tightly packed than in Texas, at least in Dallas, I've never been to Houston.

But if it makes you feel better I have a 35 minute commute. ;)

Well my commute to work in Dallas is now only 15-20 mins. Revenge is sweet. :D

That was me. Cinergy had sent a bunch of workers south to help yall and then ended up without enough people to work here. Slowly but surely they are getting everyone back up.

I posted this in the other thread:

If it makes you feel any better, my brother who lives in Columbus, Ohio said Ike knocked out the power in his apartment and surrounding areas, and they aren't supposed to get the power back for a full week.

Apparently, the Ohio utility workers have all left to help over in the South, thus it will take them extra time to get the power back in their own area.

I didn't even know Ike traveled that far north. It was one hell of an angry storm.

Someone said Ike strengthened to a Cat 5 hurricane and slammed into Wall Street...heh.

The sheer amount of destruction unleashed by this storm is unreal.
