After going through Ike, it's time to seriously reconsider the cell phone network I use. My contract ends on the 25th. I am leaning towards Sprint and Verizon.3 family members and me that had T-mobile kept getting "call failed". My brother had Sprint are still not able to send and receive calls. My brother can call people just fine on his Sprint phone, today. T-mobile: 3 phones all down as of Sunday Sprint: 1 phone working
It's not worth it changing to Sprint just because they have superior post hurricane response. Their customer service BLOWS.
I've always heard Verizon is the best, quality and service... is this true? I don't care about how much a provider costs.
Tmobile coverage is probably the worst to rely upon in the event of an emergency. I wouldn't go to Sprint simply because well, their customer service is lame and I'm surprised they're still in business. Verizon or AT&T is the way to go in most parts of the US.
It just depends on where you are. I know people with tmobile whose service is fine and a couple who barely have service. I'm on AT&T and I have the best 3g service I've had in my house but I think it was cause I downloaded the iPhone update on friday....
Ditto. My mom and my sister both have T-Mobile, and I was able to talk to them just fine. Granted, they didn't answer their phone and I had to leave a voicemail, but they were able to call me back without a problem.
i have at&t and my phone wasn't connecting about half the time yesterday. maybe it isn't entirely your provider's fault.
Obviously folks have different experiences, but Sprint customer service has always been great to me. Recently the "phone" part of my Windows Mobile Samsung quit working (the PDA works fine), Sprint gave me a $350 credit to get any phone I wanted and this is without me having any phone insurance or replacement plan.
Sprint is garbage. I have T-mobile and I currently can't make any calls. I keep on getting a "Call Failed, Network Busy" error message. BUT I can send and receive text messages just fine. I've heard from friends that Sprint is currently on a delay with their text messages. Up to an hour late.
I wasn't able to reach my parents on Friday during the storm at 10PM onwards. They both use T-Mobile. But the lines came back on Saturday. They live in West Houston.
Text messaging is working great on Sprint for me now, although earlier yesterday it was pretty hard to get a text to go through, sometimes I had to retry about 3 or 4 times. All cellphone networks have been hit hard by the hurricane both due to tower damage and just the sheer load on the system as everyone tries to call and text at once. Some are handling it a little better than the others. I think I'm impressed enough with Sprint that I would continue stay with them ... Verizon had major issues yesterday, worse than Sprint, and they're supposed to be "the network".
Verizon is the best all around. It really depends on several factors, such as your "need" for the latest and greatest phone and how much/where you travel. ATT - best selection of "wow" phones (which is not all that wow IMO). Good service in the cities but can be spotty to down right poor in rural areas. Verizon - Decent phone selection but best coverage in the nation.
I have T-Mobile, and it's been decent during Ike. My boyfriend has Sprint, and his service has totally sucked the entire time. Like others have said, I think it all depends on where you're at.
I have Verizon and I was able to make calls during the eye of the storm as we were cleaning debris from the storm drains and even during the second part of the eyewall whcih was WAY worse than the first part.
