    Awesome thread...Ignoring live compilations/greatest hits, my list would be:

    1. Dave Matthews Band - Before These Crowded Streets
    2. U2 - Joshua Tree
    3. Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV
    4. Beatles - White Album
    5. Bob Dylan - Blood on the Tracks

    I'd say that those are my essential 5, but it was hard to leave off Ben Harper, Pink Floyd, Springsteen, Hendrix, etc... off.
