Steve Francis Clog the lane. prevent penetration if possible. force him to take long jumpers and or 3s. his shot is good but not awesomely consistent. it can be off some nights. throw quick double teams at him to try to cause turnovers. have your starting PG try to get him into a scoring contest. generally it would probably be better to make him go to his left when he drives to the basket. watch the alley oop on D. good foul shooter so dont hack. watch fancy passes. get back on D he will run like a greyhound. try to get the ball out of his hands as he is an outstanding playmaker. best way to beat rockets is to let the other players beat you, as they are inconsistent right now except for mobley and maybe shandon anderson. when on offense.. put a big guard and post him up if possible. get posts to set alot of picks, he has trouble getting around them. dont underestimate him , he steals the ball fairly often. has great quickness so dont make any weak moves. make him frustrated by making alot of contact. run pick and roll alot. he really isnt the best shotblocker.. most guards arent.... but u had better not shoot right in his face the man has a 40somethin inch vertical and will send it back if u put up weak shots. also, he does not defend the mid range jumper very well. he gives up the lane too much. his D can and will improve though so watch for some of these mistakes to disapear. his fundamentals arent too bad he moves his feet pretty well and has good quickness. ------------------ --TEX [This message has been edited by TeXaSalsa (edited October 14, 2000).]
Steve Francis, extremely quick, can dish in the lane. Has amazing vertical jump and finishing ability. Most effective in fast pace action. Try to slow him down. Has solid range, yet can struggle with mid range jumper. Defensively he is quick yet unrefined but because of speed will get steals. ------------------ Thomas Hamilton For THREE!!!!!!
