If you were forced to relive a failed era in rockets history, knowing the outcome, but being made to watch every frustrating second of every game, which would it be and why?

The Steve Francis era. Steve Francis really solidified me as a Rockets fan. True, I loved the Rockets as a kid, watching Dream and Clyde but I used to mostly watch because of my dad. I didn't really like the Rockets at that time I more liked them because he did. Eventually he stopped watching as much and I got hooked on the Steve Francis Rockets. I loved watching them, Moochie Norris, Cat, heck even Shandon Anderson wasn't bad. I'd relive that era in a heartbeat. Championship or not, that era is one I'll never forget...

No doubt the Francis era. There were never championship aspirations for those teams, despite what people might think....but at least we saw a player who was passionate about the team, and city. Sure, he had his flaws, but you could never doubt his heart (unlike a superstar we may or may not have on the roster right now).

I went with Charles Barkley because, at least at first, we still had Olajuwon and Drexler. And we went to the Western Conference finals.

Plus, I'll never forget Barkley's first game as a Rocket when he grabbed something like 33 rebounds.

Also, as much as I enjoyed watching Steve Francis play - I basically hated almost everyone else on those teams. Maurice Taylor, Moochie Norris, Kelvin Cato, Eddie Griffin. Uggghhhhhh. I couldn't go through that again.

The Rockets made it to the Western Conference Championship in the Barkley era so I'll go with that.

when that Francis for McGrady trade went down, i really thought that was a big mistake. Despite Stevie's bad habits, he really began to play like a true PG when JVG took over. I think if Steve had more pieces around him, we could have had some good things happen here.

It sucks that the one year Stevie made it to the playoffs, we got stuck playing the Lakers hall-of-fame lineup (Shaq, K. Malone, Kobe, Payton).

    Yao, Cato, Jackson, Mobley, Francis
    VS.
    Shaq, Malone, Fox, Kobe, Payton

Lets be real... there was no way this team was going to win...

Francis Era, I mean he played hard and he was one of the more exciting players in the NBA. So sad to see his career vanish after he left the Rockets. I respect Steve Francis more than I respect any of those guys when they were playing in a Rocket Uniform. Obviously they were all better than Francis, but Francis was just the man, personality wise as well.

Francis, he was all houston all the time. It killed him being traded, he never was the same.

    1. Barkley
    2. T-Mac
    3. Francis
    4. Pippen
    5. Griffin

The first year of Barkley -- that team was outstanding and close to the prize. Next would be T-Mac, hoping for better luck with health (or just flat out trade him while his value is enormous).

Ahh yes yes. Pippin the short. His era as ruler was an interesting one.

But yeah, sign me up for the Francis era. It was whacky, sad, yet very entertaining.

the ultimate in wasted potential was the Twin Towers era. Especially with Olajuwon so early in his career. Shoulda had a few rings from those years. They did get to the finals once but unfortunately they had to face one of the best Celtic teams of all time. When else could you have seen a 7'4" power forward run a break? I would def watch this era over again over the ones listed.

The Steve Francis era was my favorite. He basically converted me into a Rockets fan. I also liked the fact that he befriended Yao and made him tough instead of the soft center Yao was in his rookie year. He took Yao and didn't let anyone get him down and he guided Yao through his first couple of years in the NBA. I will always respect Stevie Franchise for doing that.

This video kind of shows what I am talking about and no I don't know why there is no audio.

If not for Barkley's freak injury, we beat the j*zz, advance to the finals, and win our third ring.

This is a ridiculous a question, but I voted Francis simply because he was the most fun to watch.

Better record than the Bulls when healthy I wanna say (all big 3 played)... great memories with Barkley & Willis. Finally beating the Sonics... that section in the Chronicle designed specifically for our big 3, it recapped and graded their previous performance. So cool.
