If you were a Rockets executive how would you get more people to the games?

    1. (Commercial idea) Have Jim Jackson (ala Moochie) ride the train and be recognized just before it crashes...again. :)
    2. Half-time TV Segments-Have Cynthia Cooper's comments be accompanied by sign language, maybe it'll slow her down plus the hearing impaired would have something to "look" forward to.
    3. Create a Promotion that pays off after the Rocket's force a 24 second violation. It would help to promote better defense by an already great defensive team and give the crowd something to cheer about as the clock runs down.
    4. (Real commercial idea) Show different Rockets at obscure events (piano recitals, rodeos, operas, girls high school soccer game, etc.) with the point and dialogue being..."We support you Houston no matter what, so come out and support us."
    5. Tape a Houston comedy night with real Houston comics joking about basketball and integrate that into either a TV package or a Toyota Center package.

    Do you have any?

You know, option 3 (prizes for 24-second violations) sounds AWESOME. The drama will literally build on every possession down the court as the shot-clock ticks down... the only question is figuring out the prize.

Maybe, for every 24-second violation, an entire section (selected at random) gets a free Big Mac?

One thing and only one thing! A WINNING TEAM,
To do this the management must realise the Team must be built arround either the Big Mans Game or the Guard Oriented Game. Their direction must be made clear and they then should continue to adjust the Team, so as all players on the Team are compatible and comfortable with this direction. At the start of next season the team, under JVG, goes on a twenty Game winning streak.
    Full House!! No Gimics needed!

Have the team put together a winning streak longer than 4 games.

Was just thinking for every shot clock violation the Rockets have, every starting 5 member should donate $100 dollars in a pool that they'd give to a non-profit charity.

The last two players to touch the ball pay an extra $50 dollars.

Hell they get paid so much it'd probably be chump change to them.

Same deal for bad or unforced turnovers. Francis would go broke with that deal though. But atleast his money would go to a good cause ;)

    I disagree to an extent.

There are teams that do nicer numbers with losing teams. I think that fans follow a fun team with creative marketing, and although this team has a top flight marketing team, suggestions never hurt.

    Winning never hurts either.

I think give away tickets.. I would rather see the stadium full and loaded with people cheering on the Rox.

buy 2 tickets get 1 free.. or season ticket holders get special events with the players.. like coming in early for home games and getting close to the players.

but I like AB's commercial ideas.. genius.

remember how the compaq center had a free parking lot and a pay parking lot, we should have that at the TC, even the parking space that was made from tax payers money is not free, it's only free to the suite season holders, or rich people, that't the number one reason i haven't been to a rocktes game this season, and at the compaq center, i used to go like 10-15 games a season, but until the parking situation gets better, i will not go to a game.

I really liked that as well... promote the major arts facilities as well as the obscure ones. The Houston Children's Museum falls somewhere in between, but would also be an excellent choice. The Houston Ballet and Opera could use all the support they can get. Something tells me Les might like that idea, AB. And it would give the players a chance to get duded up... black tie and all.
    Excellent.

Hey the parking isn't free it's in the price of the ticket. That's one of the reasons they pay more. Plus, most people that I talk to don't have a problem finding free parking, and even still $5 is not that much for parking.

Easy, just hire Cuban's Dallas marketing staff. Mavericks was a laughing low-attendance team before Cuban bought it. Now it is nearly sold out every game.
