A couple of buddies and I have been debating who would be the consensus number one pick next year in fantasy. Some are saying Foster and others are going QB with Rodgers or Vick.

    Who would you pick?

AP has been the most consistent of that group so I would take him #1 in fantasy next season.

    Peterson.

He'll win the rushing title next season, IMO. He's a workhorse, and will shoulder an even heavier load with the departure of Favre.

Ray Rice will do next year what he was supposed to do this year. PPR, I'm going with Rice. Its a gut thing. I'd take Foster if I wasn't convinced Houston was cursed. I'd never take a QB first. Vick is special but he isn't consistent. The 4th best QB will be closer the the best QB than the 4th best WR is to the 1st WR.

I never played fantasy football, so im not good at it.
    But what about Tom Brady??
Had an amazing year, do you think he will be consistent?

Brady puts up his numbers each and every year, but Vick is a stud at QB because he is a threat to put up yards running which end up giving more points than throwing. So the fact that he's a dual threat gives you a lot more point possibilities.

They are saying that Foster is the number 1 guy right now but it's hard to take him just with questions of if he will do it again this year.

QB's provide more points, RB's provide more value because the point differential between the top tier and 2nd tier is greater. Just looking at ESPN's fantasy points, the drop off from Vick to Rodgers (top 2 QB's) was 8 points and the distance from Vick to Brady was 11 points. The drop off from Foster to Peterson was 81 points!

I'd most likely go RB first. Peterson seems to be the known commodity. I'd be leary of Foster just because 1) we saw how far Slaton dropped off after and impressive debut and 2) seeing how much Chris Johnson dropped off (not that he was bad) at the same age Foster will be next year.

I'd still probably go with Foster. The Texans are going to have a good offense and he got a lot of carries despite the Texans having to constantly play from behind. I wouldn't want to over work the guy, but if Wade and do anything with the defense, he might get even more carries next season (if there isn't a lockout of course). I think there's a very good shot he remains one of the top RB's and provides tremendous value next year.

Peterson doesn't catch and he fumbles. Its a boring pick.

AP had zero fumbles last year.

Only QB I would take in the top 10 would be Vick, and that would be towards the end of the round. In my league PPG avg was -

    1. Vick 29.95
    2. Brady 23.31
    3. Rivers 22.6
    4. Brees 22.33

If Vick goes off he can win games for you by himself.

AND he has pretty good hands. I mean they're not great hands like a wideout but I think of it this way the past few years before he bolted to Chicago Minny had Chester Taylor they're "pass catching RB". This year for some reason they felt Gerhart was their new "pc RB" so they really don't want Peterson to come out of the back field turn his back to the D stand their and wait for the pitch, when you have a guy like AP you want him with a full head of steam and power hitting the hole, HARD.

Plus, when Joe Webb was playing QB I saw quite a few dump offs to AP since he's not the "almighty gunslinger" Brett Favre and needs an outlet. He broke a few for some big runs. So I believe it's more of a choice than a can't, by the Vikings coaching staff.

IDK that's just my opinion but who know.

    I gotta go with Rodgers.

Vick seemed to slow down as the year went on, while Rodgers only got better.

    Shonn Greene?

The explanation is last years but the logic is still the same.

I have doubts whether Vick can survive another season. Hell, even the Texans pounded him in the dirt. Maybe handcuff him with Vince Young

I've been debating this too since I got knocked out early thanks to Anquan Boldin.

Vick is #1 pick. Even when he's only good for a half that's better than 90% of the other QBs. Top 3 RBs gotta be Foster, AP, Charles/Turner. Foster led in both yards and TDs, even after factoring all the woes of this Texans team (Kubiak not wanting to run, always starting from the <15 yard line, one dimensional offense for half of the game).

Which means he'll have 12 next year.

I am taking Chris Johnson next year. With VY and Fisher gone and Collins still playing the role of starting QB, the next coach will be mostly likely go conservative on offense and run the ball more than in the past. Another +2000 yard season is definitely a possibility next year.

If you take a QB with the 1st overall pick, there will be no decent RBs on the board when it shifts back to you for the last pick of the 2nd round.

You can pull diamonds out of the garbage at RB every year, QB not so much.
