If you fire Kubiak, Do you fire the coordinators too?

If the Texans fire Kubiak, how should they handle the coordinators?

  1. Keep them both

    12.9%
  2. Keep Bush Only

    12.9%
  3. Keep Shanahan Only

    15.1%
  4. Fire them all!

Usually you clean house but the Defense has made great strides in Bush's 1st year. I definitely think you keep him.

Shanahan is trickier. The offense is doing really well but will it be harder to get a good coach if he can't even bring in his own O-coordinator?

What do you think? Keep 1, both or CLEAN HOUSE?

You do what ever Coach Cowher wants you to do.

It all depends on the new coach. If you bring in a new coach you have to let him decide if he wants to keep the current coordinators or not. You can't have a head coach working with coordinators who he doesn't want there.

If it were only that easy.

Not that I would complain if Cowher wanted to bring in some new guys.

Would Cower want to bring in a 3-4 defense? Mario and Demekyo don't seem like they would fit well.

I would imagine any coach you bring in is going to want to pick his own guys. Beyond that, the only coaches who have shown any serious talent are on the offensive side. I would love to grab Cowher and convince him to keep Shanahan and Gibbs.

I think it depends on the coach. If you bring in a defensive minded coach, he's probably going to want his own d-coordinator at the least. Same thing for offensive-minded coaches. You have to give them the chance to build at least some of their own staff.

I'd hate to lose Bush though- he's really gotten the defense to respond.

Anyone involved in the decision to run the halfback pass....and the the halfback. Schaub on probation but still allowed to play for not being smart enough for to say "WTF you smok'n, heeeeeellllllllll naw, I'll just pass to AJ."

I agree do what the new head coach wants to do. If it was up to me, I would fire all of them. This defense has made a some progress but they still need a lot of improvement. I think Kyle Shanahan will follow his father wherever he goes no matter what.

Most new coaches will want to pick their own staffs. Personally, I would clean house and take the GM and several players along for the ride. It is time for a whole new attitude and a whole new approach to game planning. I see some talent, I see some gaps in talent, so a new coaching staff won't be an instant solution, but the current direction is "nowhere."

Mario and Antonio Smith would be ideal 3-4 DE because of their size. We would just need to get a big run stuffing NT.

Demeco would make a fine ILB, and I think that Cushing could play either ILB or OLB. Conner Barwin is an ideal fit at OLB, and Zac Diles can play ILB. We would have to get some depth here though.

Just thinking about this earlier today. I know its very premature but we do have some guys that could fit the 3-4 scheme. Barwin seems like a guy who you mold into a 3-4 OLB, DeMeco and Cushing are both natural defenders so I don't think they'd have too much trouble adjusting. The biggest question mark would be Mario at OLB. Amobi might actually be better suited as a DE since he's just getting eaten alive in the middle.

Mario would be way too big at 290 lbs to play OLB. Bruce Smith was able to have a great career as a 3-4 DE at 270 lbs.

I agree Mario and Antonio Smith would be good fits at defensive end in a 3-4 because of their size, power, and speed. against both the run and pass. Mario Williams could play a similar role to what Richard Seymour played in New England and Aaron Smith in Pittsburgh. Sure his sack numbers would be down but the defensive overall could be better. I think Barwin would be good fit as a 3-4 rush linebacker. I think Cushing would be better as a inside linebacker in a 3-4. I would like too see a better pash rusher on the outside. Diles would be a quality backup.

I would be interested too see what happens to Amobi Okoye if they move too a 3-4. He is too small to play the nose tackle and Antonio Smith and Mario Williams are clearly better players. He is still very young and I think some team would be willing to maybe give up a 2nd round pick for him because of his age. The Bucs got a 2nd round pick from the Bears for Gaines Adams who was the 4th pick in the 2007 draft which Okoye was in. At this point, I would try to trade him since he has been a pretty big disappointment after a solid rookie season.

Texans point totals last 4 weeks

    Colts - 17
    Titans - 17
Colts - 20(7 at the end of the game is meaningless)
    Jags - 16(Safety is on the "D")

Offense is struggling....Cleaning house is fine by me.

Yep. Let your next coach evaluate and decide from there.
