Stop the Hitlers from having sex and conceiving Hitler. 2. Telling Abe Lincoln to sit on the other side of his wife. 3. Telling Africans to fight until death to not get on boats to go to America. Obviously, the ramifications of these alterings would make the present much different ( and may make #2 moot, if I got #3 done first), so I'm not sure. As for the ladies, I think I would go with the 1920's. One word : flappers...
I would try and change the idea that Slavery was ok. 1500's I would try and change the idea that anti-semitism was ok. Pretty much any time in history would work, but especially in the early 1900's-1930's. The period in time I would go back to for the ladies, would be the early 1600's France.

my goal would be to try and save knowledge from ancient cultures. i would prevent the library in alexandria from being burned. i would have stopped the spanish conquistadors from burning all the mayan libraries. as a child growing up in texas i always dreamed about going back in time to the alamo with a machine gun and alot of bullets and a toby keith cd. i would have saved the alamo. oh yeah, i would also try to get it on with mary todd lincoln - she was quite a handsome lady!

Awesome. I wouldn't try to change anything too far back in the past. I'd probably just try to avert 9/11 somehow... Like an anonymous tip to the airports, millitary, etc. Then I would high tail it to the 70s and get it on with the bellbottom-clad and afro-sporting beauties of the day.

You really can't change anything that led up to your own existance or even your ability to travel through time. It would negate you being able to change time in the first place and destroy the space-time continum with a massive time paradox!!! That said, I would travel back in time to whatever was the biggest winning lottery in the past few weeks, buy a ticket with the winning numbers, hide it somewhere where my future self would never think to look, come back, get the ticket and cash it in.
After watching a lot of Sci-fi if I could travel through time I don't think I would change any major historical events. There's a lot of things I would like to change with my own life but I think I would leave history alone.
How about some simple things like buying a couple powerball tickets? or buying some microsoft stocks in the 80's?
I'd go back in time and give George Bush Sr. the teenager the hardest kick in the nuts ever. That will either change history or make it possible for our current time to exist.
