This is a tough question as Hakeem has given us rings but MJ is deemed the greatest of all time. Thoughts?

    You take the center.

Would Jordan be considered the greatest if he did not win 6 rings and only won 2? Would Dream be considered the greatest if he won 6 and not 2?

I think you put Jordan on the Rockets and Dream on the Bulls the numbers are very different (Jordan's 6 rings and Dreams 3)

There is no bad choice they are both great

if it meant we'd have 6 championships instead of 2, hell yes. otherwise, besides the rings, i prefer teh evolution of Hakeem.

If the Rockets Draft MJ #1, does Portland still pick Bowie over Hakeem?

No doubt I would have taken Dream.

I submit that if M.J. had been forced to navigate his was through the Wetern Conference each year history would have read very different.

Also as you all know we were the only team in the eighties besides the Lakers to get out of the West....and waiting for us was yet another all time great team in the Celtics.

As far as the Rockets/Bulls matchup...we dominated them head up with Max on his Airness and our interior game destroying the Bulls on both ends of the floor.

Toss in the loss of the Cocaine Cowboys and you have yet another reason.

Don't get me wrong,M.J. was a once in a generation player, but so was Dream.
    Take the big man.

The Rockets could very easily have had more titles.

No, because there's no way we could've gotten Pippen and Rodman.

its funny that all the comments are pro hakeem but the poll has an equal amount voting that we should have drafted MJ.

For those MJ supporters, please chime in your comments. interested in hearing...

yes, because Jordan is considered the GOAT, he dropped 63 against the mighty Celtics in his 2nd season. Not only the countless gamewinners and unbelievable clutch, also a great defender, he was everything IMO.

yes, thats a very good point, history is all about timing, jordan at bulls is just the right timing, they got him the right coach and right piece around him, hakeem met some setbacks in his career, but please remember michael and hakeem have never played in playoff !

My head said MJ, my heart said dream.

    I chose Dream

It isn't uncommon to see a SG/SF with Jordanesque moves. You will never see another center with moves like Hak.

I know MJ was the greatest ever and it can be argued that Hakeem isn't even the best CENTER ever, but I'm still going with Hak

Jordan was so good, he made heartless gutless and overrated players like PIPPEN good.

But you do have to remember, MJ had to will himself and his team through the East, which once used to be a powerhouse conference, featuring the Pistons and Celtics. But nonetheless i would still go with Hakeem.

If I could redo, it would be Drexler over McCray.

Good point on Portland taking Hakeem if we had taken MJ. Drex and Hakeem together all those years would have been incredible.

wow u all are crazy. jordan is the greatest of all time. the ONLY perimeter player to have won w/o a legit big man that can score. dude basically stopped A LOT of players who also had great teams from winning (patrick ewing, reggie miller, karl malone, john stockton, charles barkley...)

if jordan didn't go into retirement, he could have challenged hakeem and our rockets in those 2 yrs for the championships.

yes, there are perimeter players that are flashy like MJ, but no one had his killer instinct where u know he'll kill you. no perimeter player today is even close. hell look at dwade w/o shaq last yr in the freaking east => .500 record. kobe/tmac can't even make it out of the first round as the main guy.

If I had a choice, I would have traded Ralph Sampson for the no. 2 pick and Clyde Drexler, drafted Hakeem and Jordan and keep Otis Thorpe.

GTOAT. Greatest Team Of All Time.

Hakeem is/was the far safer choice. At worst, he'd be an Artis Gilmore (a very respectable player in his day), and at best he'd be the next Kareem. Jordan, at worst, could have been the next Mitchell Wiggins, and at best the next Dr. J. Incredibly, both players surpassed even the highest expectations.
