If you could have any pick from the draft this upcoming year what player do you think would help the rockets the most? Personally i think Adam Morrison would fit the best. He is one pumped up guy. Whereas Yao and McGrady seem to a little subdued sometimes.

What do you think would be the best option.

    Rudy Gay....no question about it.

Just watch the guy play, there really isn't anything he doesn't do well. A versatile, high-flyer, who works hard and has tremendous upside?! This guy isn't even close to hitting his ceiling yet and he's already one of the most dynamic talents in college basketball.

I'll second Gay. Of all our needs, an athletic swingman is at the very top. Personally I think that we can get by with a PF by committee in Juwan/Stro/Hayes. But we desparately need an athletic SG/SF who can matchup defensively against the Ricky Davises, and Jerry Stackhouses of the NBA.

Yeah i probably havent seen enough of that guy play yet to make a judgment on him. But i have seen highlights and he looks like he would be fun to watch.

I'd take Rudy Gay, as well, although Morrison is a sick scorer.

I would like to ask how does Rudy Gay compare with Marvin Willliams?
I have heard that they are similar players.

He is a sick shooter, but doesn't do anything else....

morrison is more than just a shooter. he's a creative player. he's an effective passer and sees the floor pretty well. he also has a knack for getting in the lane and getting his shots off anywhere.

he's not your typical spot up shooter like a jj reddick.

Morrison. He can play the three and be a good complement to Yao and McGrady with his shooting and passing. If our record gets a lot better and we don't have a shot at Morrison and Gay type players, I would love to get Reddick, as we could really use a great shooter that isn't 150 years old.

Rudy gay is very atheletic and does a little of everything, but he just can't shoot that well....very streaky. I would compare him to James Posey in the NBA except Gay can handle the ball better and has an array of offensive moves. Marvin Williams is basically a cheap man's lebron james. He'll probably average 18/7/4 in his prime.

if i could have anyone i would take morrison. he is more NBA ready than gay and we are trying to win now.

a realistic choice (since we will pass a few teams on our run for the playoffs) would be daniel gibson. we could use a good backup PG so that rafer doesn't have to play 36 MPG, and tmac doesn't have to play the point when rafer sits.

No thanks on Gibson. This is coming from a Longhorn. I just don't see him translating to the NBA very well, at least not as a starter - he is an NBA level shooter and defender, but he needs a ton of improvement as a point guard both in terms of handles and passing, imo. I see him as a bench player, something of a Tony Delk - not that that's so terrible, but not for a lotto pick.

LaMarcus on the other hand has stud written all over him...I'd probably take Rudy Gay with Aldridge as a close second.

Sounds like you're kind of contradicting yourself here.....

Suggesting we would ideally take Morrison since he's probably the most NBA-ready player, but as a more realistic choice, we should consider taking Daniel Gibson who is probably the least NBA-ready player in the draft??

    i vote gay!

    c- yao,deke,stro
    pf- juho,stro,hayes
    sf- gay,hayes,bowen
    sg- tmac,da
    pg- alston,head,spanoulis,mooch

maybe we can make a trade to get rid of our guards.

Can I choose no one? It's real early and the Madness hasn't even started, but I don't see an impact player at any of ur need positions. Most of the top 10 seem to be projects (like Gay, Aldridge, Splitter) or players with plenty of question marks about how their game will translate to the L (Morrison, Reddick, Gibson). I say trade down to mid 1st, pick up a serviceable PG, and see what happens...

I disagree about Gay being a project player. I've watched this guy play a lot, he looks like something special. He might struggle with his shot early on but he has all the tools necessary to succeed on the next level.

Gay is my clear choice for the best player in the draft and the player I would most want on the Rockets. (Keep in mind, I am a Pitt fan that hates UConn who was rooting for Gay to fall on his ass the other night when Pitt should have beat them)

That's what I'm kinda thinking. Morrison is good but I'm not sure how his game is going to translate the NBA.

Like Tierre said, guys like Aldridge/Gay still seem a little raw in my opinion, but would be worth a very high pick still.

    A perfect choice.
Can play either SG and SF.
    Good shooter, good defender, athletic.
    A versatile player.

We musn't forget that Bowen, Wesley and Barry won't be there next year.
And we you see Sura's and Anderson's problems...
