And were allowed to go to one sporting event what would be the one you would go to even if you may have already saw it in person?

I think I would want to go to Ali vs. Frazier 1. I heard the guys on PTI talk about it the other day and then I have read many accounts of the story online as well, including this one. I read that the fight divided the nation as Ali represented the new, radical ideas people were having and was the spirit of anti-war people and Frazier represented the blue collar community as the champ. Adding on that, boxing may have been the second biggest/most popular sport besides baseball then and may have even been bigger in some accounts. Yes, I think this is the one I would want to witness.

I'd like to see Jesse Owens giving the Adolph Hitler fits at the olympics.

I would go back to 1938, and I would get a ringside seat for Joe Lewis-Max Schmeling II.

You only picked that because both fighters are black. You should've picked a Tommy Morrison fight.

No, just a sporting event that was so amazing that you wanted to see it in person yourself.

    BTW, to answer the question...

I think that I'd have to pick the Rockets first championship. Generic answer, especially for this board, but I would've given anything to be at game 7.

Then I guess it still would be Game 6 of 1986 the NLCS.

ok, which thing had the biggest odd on the underdog winning? Is it the NC Sate team? I would want some lottery numbers with me too.

After that game, I was so depressed that I got stinking drunk at a bar on Sunset Blvd. in Hollywood. Three hours later, I was arrested for public intoxication and thrown in the hoosegow. One of the worst days of my life.

Great thread topic, Lil Pun. Here are mine:

Jesse Owens at the Olympics would be amazing. Seeing first-hand the look on Hitler's face would have been priceless.

The Race between Seabiscuit and War Admiral -- i don't know if non-horse racing fans realize how huge an event this was.

Watching the '27 Yankees..watching the Babe.

Spending the summer of '55 in Brooklyn to watch Jackie and the Dodgers win it all.

I'm not going to lie to you Max, until I saw a special on Seabiscuit on A&E I had no idea how HUGE that race was. After I saw that I was amazed at what all had to be done to set it up, the people involved, the crowd at the stadium as well as the millions listening on the radio, two legendary thoroughbreads. Truly amazing.
