I'd change your daughter's breast size.

So because you can't make them completely healthy, you also wouldn't want to at least make them immune to cancer? That doesn't make any sense to me.

picking my kids' eye color is entirely different than giving himi a vaccination to prevent a killer disease.

But you said none of the above. By your logic, shouldn't Immunity to Cancer at least make your list?

There will always be costs and risks involved to something like this.

Besides, some of these options aren't like polio vaccinations. They're more like Botox injections.

Well the choice in this respect is beyond deciding whether to eat a burrito or a pizza for lunch, but rather one decides to have enough faith in their Creator to provide what's best for him/her/them.

Exactly same reason why I don't take medicine. If god chooses for me to live, I'll let him make that choice for me.

Perhaps I didn't state it correctly. I wouldn't be opposed to everyone being immune to cancer or every other disease, that would be great, but my point was I wouldn't genetically change them, likely for any reason.

I just don't think that it's the right thing to do.

My philosophy has always been that you are never given more adversity than you can handle... and trying to beat that perspective by genetically altering a child is not something I would do.

but by definition, isn't something that results in *death*, more adversity than that person could handle (in one way or another) ?

    (1) having "perfect health" is vague and subjective

    (2) The poll only allows me to list only 10 choices.

    (3) I intentionally mixed items that are health related as well as cosmetic items.

My vote: ... honestly.... all of the above. I'm afraid I entirely agree with BigBenito's post.

I'm not saying that making all those changes will make my kid's life easier. I'm quite sure there will be plenty of troubles in life for my kids to deal with outside of these qualities.

I think it would be more interesting if you had to give up something. . . .

I.e. You can get High intelligence . . but lose breast/penis size
You get immunity to Cancer. . . but you might be legally blind

Something that results in death means that it was just your time to go... I'm not one of the cryogenically freeze my arse type of people. Even a person's fight for life yet ultimate death can change the lives of others around them for the better.

Let me put it bluntly (Ron Ron would be proud) I don't believe in genetically altering a person.

No no... not you.... your kids.

Your kids will go through life with the cards they are dealt and will do so long after you are gone.

The question is... which cards would you choose for them?
