The men vs. women thread actually got me to thinking about it.

In women's basketball, I would lower the goal to 9.5 or even 9 feet. I believe that would get some above the rim action going on in the sport. I think that is one of the key elements missing from women's basketball. I mean you see how much coverage Candace Parker gets when she makes a hard layup?

In football I would change up a rule they have instituted to protect the quarterback. For some reason I just don't like that, I mean now we are seeing floppers in the NFL.

Those are two right off the top of my head. Do you guys have any?

I would insert a salary cap in the MLB but actually I don't give a damn what happens to that joke of a league at this point.

In college football redshirted freshman should be allowed to play in the bowl game without forfeiting a year of eligibility. Many teams look at the bowl game as the first game of the next season. I agree. So let the kids play.

I'd take one outfielder out of baseball so you would only have 8 players in the field at one time.

Less fielders = More hits = more excitement.

    This is the correct answer.

    Second would be zone defenses.

    Timeouts in basketball.

Fewer of them, as in only 1 in the last 2 minutes.

While it doesn't really irk me, I'd like to see college basketball drop down to something below 30 seconds for a shot clock. College basketball is pretty exciting as it is now, but that would really spice things up, IMO.

In the NBA, crappy bench players would not be allowed to jump up off the bench, a la glorified cheerleaders. I'd call this the Jack Haley Rule.

In MLB, make the batter stay in the batter's box at all times. Stop walking forty feet from the plate, readjusting every single piece of padding, gloving, protection, etc and then having to reset your footing every single time.

NFL...allow multiple players (receivers) moving forwards before the snap (like AFL). Might create a little more offense.

get rid of zone defenses in the NBA its was a crap rule to begin with, these are grown men out there they should be able to defend.

maybe put in a rule that you can double a man without the ball for no more than 3 seconds but once he has the ball of course all bets are off.

seeing guys just not play defense at all in a zone is frustrating. i think it'll actually improve scoring since the zone leads to more jumpshots and the majority of the nba cannot hit a midrange jumper consistently

In boxing, no American referees when either on of the boxer is american and the not. Too much cheating on points especially in Vegas.

In soccer, hands off all the time to ball and players.

In basketball (NBA), 3 wwwrong easy calls from referees in a game = automatic suspension without pay.

In Tennis, bring back the wooden racquets :)

No possession arrows in ncaa. Jump it up.

I hate baseball, but have a pitching shot clock(20-30secs) or its an automatic walk. That sport is way too damn long and boring.

No protecting QB's like someone else said. Same for the kickers, they flop even more. I can understand if they are blatantly laid out, but sometimes I guy goes for a block and the kicker brushes him and goes all Ginobili on the field looking like a Power Ranger after being hit by a roundhouse.

B-ball ~ Advantage rule in basketball like there is in soccer -- clear path to the goal and the ref doesn't stop the play because someone fouls you from behind.

Soccer ~ yellow or even a red card for an obvious flop.

Soccer ~ move the penalty kick back a couple of yards at least for shoot outs.

Baseball ~ speed up the games -- pitching clock etc... no intentional walks

Football ~ punts cannot be kicked out of bounds to avoid returner unless it's inside the 20.
