    ... what would it be?

    Inspired by this tweet:

These would be two of my picks, but I'd definitely choose golf. I wouldn't put the work in to be a scratch golfer, but it would be awesome to be one. Don't limit it to this, what would you choose? A good enough martial artist to mop up at your local gym? A dominant YMCA basketball player? The stud 5-tool player in beer league softball? League champion bowler? The guy who wins most club fishing tournaments? Anything else?

Here's the limit: You won't be good enough to make any serious cash. You might win a few bets with your buddies or a small tournament purse here and there, but it'll still be a money-losing hobby for you.

Definitely a scratch golfer. If I could golf worth a damn I could make $100-200 a week on bets alone. Instead of losing $30-40.

Guitar, piano or foreign languages. In a small enough town that's probably a p***y magnet of some kind.

It might be worth even more than that in the corporate world.

If you can play any instrument well enough to get gigs, I'm sure it'll help you get laid.

Can you explain what you mean with filmmaker? Can you make art house films as a hobby? It would seem like it would take as much time as a job.

Wouldn't that qualify as being a profession?

Probably golf. Makes the most sense for a white collar professional.

I guess if I could I would like to be an Olympic level Judoka since that is technically still being an amateur. At the Olympic level though the line between amateur and pro is very blurred.

This is a strange question IMO. Why would we pick to be "really good" at something if the hypothetical then entails that that is the permanent limit to how good we can be at it? It's not like such a limit exists in real life (except for maybe contact sports and singing and the like). Now I get that it's a hypothetical question and that it isn't real life, but to me the question is basically asking "what would you like to be good at but never quite good enough at".

I guess the attraction is supposed to be the immediate pay off, but it just seems like a sad question.

Isn't Capt. America the amateur version of Hulk?

I would like to be an amateur Hulk.
