then we will not make the playoffs.
Steve Francis has to realize that atleast this year this is his team and has to will them in the playoffs. He has to become a leader. THat means if we don't make the playoffs Steve should take the full responsibility.

Now next year I expect Yao to carry us but this year I want Steve to carry us in the playoffs. He is just the better player. He has to be the leader and we should follow him

The leader isn't necessarily the leading scorer, especially if your leader is the point guard. I agree that Steve is the leader, but that doesn't mean he has to be the leading as the title of your thread states. Mobley, Yao or Steve could lead in scoring, but the key is overall leadership. That's what Steve must provide and I'm confident he'll do it.

    Thats what i meant
    Lead us in the game.
NOt only points but the little things also.
Points don't make leaders. Leadership makes leaders

so next year this is going to be yao's team???? is that what you want??.. the team to be in the hands of a second year player???and if not say what you mean please.

this will be steves team for a long time, untill someone can show otherwise, and yao has not shown it, yet.. yet.... and if you think only steve can get us in the playoffs you are not as knowledgeable about the game as you think you are... it is a team sport, and a sport where you have to earn everything you get, its not handed to you.

it takes years for young players to develope, and it also takes time for a team to finds its chemisrty.... time is what this team needs

hey if Yao wotks in the summer and shows he can prove it on the court then he should be our #1 option

Its not like 2nd year players can't carry their teams to the finals. Just look at Duncan and Olajowan.

If Yao is good enough then I have no problem. But if he is not then steve should still run this team

Is this going to be another Yao vs Francis thread?

I mean this is OUR team, Houston Rockets, not Yao's or Francis's team.

Next Year Yao Ming could be the # 1 option, if he improves over the offseason. Steve Francis could still be ther leader of the team giving up the top scoring position to Yao Ming.

Duncan won the title in his second year, and it was his team. It's not such a crazy thought that Yao could do it.

As for this year, Steve has to stop coming up with these 5-18 games. He needs to step up and knock down his shots, or the Rockets aren't going anywhere.

On the bright side, he is doing a much better job of getting Yao involved.

He is, Yao has finally become a major part of our offense. I just wish he would hold the ball high and stop commiting these rookie mistakes (ball to low to get stripped)

I think it is going to be hard for Ming to become the team leader. I am not saying that he won't be the leading scorer or rebounder or whatever I just dont think that he has the personality to be the vocal leader. During the 1st title I would say that Maxwell was our team leader. He was the guy that got everybody hyped and got in the faces of teammates (and sometimes fans) when things weren't going well. I seem to remember Mad Max getting many, many last shots too. Also about Duncan, he was by the far the best player on the squad but I would say either Mario or AJ was the leader of the team. These Rockets are going to be led by Francis and Mobley. Yao will be the base everything rests on, but I doubt he will ever the a real vocal guy.

Yeah, that would make a big difference.

How many times has Yao had an easy dunk opportunity, only to bring the ball down, and get it stripped by a guard.
