If Yao hadn't went down would we be playing in the Western Conference Finals tonight?

Considering Kobe scored so low and Gasol and height played a major factor in the game 7 loss?

you could make the argument we don't even extend it to 7 had he not gone down.

Nah, we'd have been playing in the WCF last Sunday.

Exactly. Do we even make it to Game 6 with Yaouch?

After watching Game 1 against the Blazers for the second time, I'm sure that Deke could have made the difference as well.

Oh well, time to move on.

I think if both Yao and Deke didn't go down then they would probably be in West con final.

Nah, Stern wants a Kobe vs Lebron final and would have rigged game 7 regardless.

Probably not, but I would have liked our chances more.

You bet we would be. No way do the Lakers get all those easy baskets with Yao down there.

After a LOT of deep thinking about this topic, I've come to a conclusion.....

    ... Maybe.

I suppose he paid our guys to miss all of their shots then... and injured Yao so that Gasol would have a 2 foot advantage with his arms raised on the boards.

We could also make the argument that we could have won game 3 if Yao was healthy in the 2nd half....

If I recall correctly, we had the lead going into half time? Yao clearly was moving much slower than usual in the 2nd half.

    1. No.
    2. The rest of our players would have fetched us less in trade this offseason than they will now.

yay, more hypotheticals. how bout this one? if the Rockets beat Dallas in the last season game, and play a Mavs team with a hobbled Josh Howard, and a Denver team after that and Deke avoids that injury and Yao never bangs knees with Kobe or turns his ankle three times in one game, do the Blazers also knock off the Lakers, the Rockets knock off Denver and the Blazers (or a worn out Lakers team), and meet Orlando or Cleveland in the finals? :D

If Ralph Sampson had stayed healthy, would we have won in the '80s?

If Len Bias didn't love cocaine, would Bird have gotten a ring in the '90s?

If you were a hot dog, and you were starving, would you eat yourself? I know I would...

If Yao is healthy, we'd play WCF.

If Yao and Deke are all healthy,we'd play the finals for title!!

On other hand,I must say, Deke's injury effected Yao's healthy.
