If he didn't understand before... Yao clearly understands now that this game is a business and when his legal obligation is up you can forget about any loyalty to the Rockets cause they could care LES about you... They just want to suck all the talent out of you that they can and when they are finished they will dump you like a stale poo-poo platter.

Yao's Rocket days are numbered and will leave for greener pastures as soon as he can. No need for loyalty here. Yao will win many championships in his career too bad it will be in a Knicks or Lakers uni...

Kobe passes too Yao... SLAM! Sad day in Rockets History.

I don't get all the nastiness. I never heard Yao say that he wants to be a Houston Rocket forever. I'd understand if it was something crazy, but this isn't out of the realm of reality here. Then again, Franicis has said he'd like to remain a Rocket and signs a full extension, yet all it takes is some guy with a rumor to get everybody to believe that Francis wants to be traded.

the "nastiness" is because this guy is an idiot, and just posts the first stupid statement that pops into his head. it's completely unnecessary and it's not helping anything, not to mention what does this post have to do with anything? nothing? okay then.

You don't know me at all so call me an idiot on this board all you want where you can hide behind your Seclusion name. I watched as everyone blamed Rudy T for everything that was wrong with the Rockets and mostly I kept my mouth shut because I could care less what everyone thought as long as the Rockets were on the road to rebuilding a championship. You may think it is easy to rebuild a championship team in this league but I can assure you it is not.... But part of what makes that happen is because players want to play for an organization... It's the reason why the Lakers can rebuild a team so quickly, because players like Shaq and Kobe want to play in the glamour and lights of Hollywood. But that is not the case here, in spite of what you might think, players are not lined up to play in the Bayou city, King of the topless bars, home of 100 million mosquitoes, and pollution and humidity etc.,etc. ad nauseum...

But many dream of playing for Rudy because his rep precedes him, and they know he is a winner and a class act, and they know they will be better man for the experience. So we just lost that edge and yes now I am pissed that Les fired Rudy in such a crappy manner and yes I strongly do believe Yao will do what is best for him. He has already expressed his loyalty to Rudy and now Les releases him after his two stars say they don't want to play for anyone else. Well in my book that just says hey Steve and Yao forget about what you want. I am the owner and I own you so you do what I say. Yes and he is right but eventualy their contracts expire and they will do what is best for them and if you don't believe that Yao leaving after his rookie contract is a real possiblity then you are the idiot!

Oh and by the way anytime you want to shut me up in person let me know.

    Old Man Rock,

I'm sure Yao understands the ecnomics of basketball considering he has an entire team of advisors, "Team Yao", who figure out which products Yao should endorse.

As for Yao signing with the Rockets in five years, well, we can only spectulate. If Yao progresses more and becomes the dominating center many of us believe he can be then Yao, I'm guessing, will decide to play on a team where he believes he has the best chance of winning an NBA championship. It seems to me Les is moving in the right direction by willing to spend money to bring in an elite coach.

Houston, is very lucky to have drafted Yao Ming. Without Yao, this team would be seeing a duo of Mobley and Francis for years and at best 1st round exit's out of the playoffs.

Yeah, you act like you know OMR though I see you just joined this past Feb. I guess you were a lurker for 4 years or something. Anyways, it's his opinion, you can disagree if you want, but at least say why or explain why you think he is wrong. Telling a guy to just shut the hell up is pretty childish.

Thanks Oski for the support but actually I have done the same childish thing. I am so frustrated right now and I just get annoyed with people who act like this is the best thing that could have happened to the Rockets. So perhaps I have been out of line myself. I will listen to your words and apply them to myself.

Some of you guys need to lay off the personal attacks and just stick to the basketball talk. This isn't a forum to act like 5 year olds. If you want that, go to the ESPN forums.

Yup, mebbe Yao will learn its a business, and if he doesn't do his job to the satisfaction of his employer then he'll be gone.

I'd just like to say that it's silly to think that we will reach a summer in the near future where Ming will be an FA.

The Rockets aren't a bunch of idiots. They will sign him to an extension, and Yao will agree to stay with the Rockets after our new high-profile coach lets Yao taste the playoffs for the first time.

Oh, and btw, Rudy approached Les. This is what we've been told by THE ORGANIZATION, and we have no other proof other than whatever you'd like to speculate for yourself.

    Old Man,

What else do you think Les were thinking of when he "persuaded" Rudy T to step down? He knows Yao's contract is only for 4 years and he is too good a franchise superstar center to pass by with Rockets being under-archieving. Now there are only 3 years left in Yao's contract. Les is moving in the right direction to get another coach to better develope young Rockets. Hopefully in three years Rockets can be contenders or even win a ring. Then Yao will much likely to stay instead of thinking about another place to win rings.

Think about it. Rudy T, Francis, and Cat have been under-archieving for 4 years in a row. Why Les pulled the trigger this year?

The Rockets were more than loyal to Rudy. That's why he had the third-longest coaching tenure in any sport. It was time for a change.

Anyway, he is still going to be in the organization, and I'm sure he will be paid handsomely.

As for Yao? If all goes as expected, the Rockets will want to sign him to a maximum extension in a few years. They will be able to offer him more cash than any other team. The only way I see Yao leaving the Rockets, is if he turns out to be a flop.
