I think that we can get one of the top 4 seeds and contend for a championship.

The first 31 games have been a hell of a stretch. We're in the midst of the kilelr part of our schedule, and early portion of our season was not a picnic either.

If we go 5-5 in the next 10 games, that's 7 games above .500 after more than a third of the season, and undeniably the most difficult third of the season.

So far, this team is looking like it will hit 50-55 games easy, and with a little bit of luck, could realistically be in the 55-62 range.

Things are bleak right now, but here's a few things to look forward to:

    1) T-Mac will get better.
    2) V-Span will improve, and Alston will improve the less he plays.
    3) Snyder will be back.
    4) Bonzi is back.
    5) Juwan is playing great off the bench.

I'm VERY happy with the results so far.

I am happy with our record right now, but i am very skeptical that t-mac will be better. backs dont get younger. i honestly can't see him being as good as he once was.

v-span will improve, but i dont think alston will. the alston that chucks 3's and makes 30% of them is the alston we're going to get for the rest of the season.

i like snyder but he has nothing except for athleticism. he's kinda useless in our halfcourt offense.

im looking forward to seeing bonzi play more. he looked to have lost about 20 pounds, but he was very rusty against the lakers.

juwon is still useful i dont know if he'll give us 15 ppg every night though.

You are pessimistic, that's good, cause you will never disappoint if you don't expect too much. I hold the same idea, especially the T-Mac one, he is important, he is our really leader IMO, it's difficult for him to play like what he did before.

    Loving the optimism!

I'm not ecstatic about the results (I still think there was a few games that we should have won), but I also far from disappointed.

    To add to the list:

    6) Yao will continue to improve and become more dominant
    7) Chuckie Hayes. 'Nuff said.
    8) Battier will continue to feel more comfortable on the team
    9) Overall the team will just continue to gel more and more and by All-Star break will be a really cohesive unit

The early part of our schedule has been cream puff. We should have a good record right now.December -next 9 games are brutal.

You're pretty optimistic. The Rockets is obviously not one of the top 4 teams in WC right now. I am not talking about W/L records, I am talking about how the Rockets play and other teams play. And we better pray Allen Iversion wont go to the Nuggets. Otherwise, the Rockets may end up to be the No. 7 seed in the playoffs.

I should have explained better about Alston. What I meant to say was that as V-Span improves and he takes more minutes, Alston's minutes will go down. As Alston's minutes go down, his game will improve.

I think Alston is a good PG for around 30 minutes a game. It's when we play him 38+ minutes that he becomes bad. We've seen that after he gets some rest he hits big shots, and throughout his career, he's been a better player the less he's played.

V-Span will also give us exactly what Alston lacks - defense and driving ability. Span can go to the line and the basket more than Alston, and defend those annoy little backcourt players.

We just need to see better entry passing from V-Span, and more freedom to go to the basket than sit around and wait for an open 3-pt shot.

As for T-Mac, I didn't mean the T-Mac of old. That sure would be nice, but what I meant to say was something along the lines of his last 10 games this season. That much, I think, can realistically be expected.

What WOULD be unfair is to expect more from Yao. 25/10/2 is just about all we can expect and to say he will get better and dominate is unfair. In fact, I wouldn't be too dissapointed if he began passing a bit more. His FG% has been dipping, and now that defenses have 2 to 3 defenders dedicated to him, it's not too much to ask for him to increase his FG% and assists. But more points and rebounds? A bit much.

Unfortunately, the Rockets have started 2006 at 39-38. With only 10 games to go, they can only get to .563.

I kid, I know what you meant.
