IMO, Battier will be the glue to hold everything together, and our path to be contenders would be faster then if we traded him. On a stack team, Battier would be a championship piece. I would sign and trade Scola and Jared plus picks if I could.
If we send out Battier.. He'll probably come back after Toronto releases him. We just got to make sure we can get him back, because every team in contention is probably going to go after him.
A player being S&T'd cannot be packaged with another player. Thus the only way Scola leaves in a package for Bosh is if we sign him for the max and trade one for one
This quote just dosent sit well with me and its not just you HTown_TMac a lot of people on here have been saying it. What makes everyone think that any team Shane gets traded to are just going to release him??? I mean seriously he is still an elite defender and any team that he is going too are going to want him around the locker room for the exact same reason Houston like him around as he is the ultimate team man.
+1 Battier is seriously underrated by some Rockets fans. There is no team in the league is stupid enough to release Battier.
Battier must go before any of our core players.Battier is paST HIS BEST and heading for towards his retirement years. A once great defender his performance has dropped off considerably.
an efficient three point shooter who holds a team together and leads... not to mention has the ability to outsmart his match up. A great player to have.
Battier is our cornerstone defender to win title Ariza will never upgrade to Battier's level physically or mentally so trading Ariza won't hurt the team at all Battier is untouchable
Battier is severely overrated around these parts. We could acquire lebron, win sixty games, and some would shower the credit on battier. We could swap battier for bosh, lose in the finals, and some would say we never should've let battier go. He was a solid role player who has fallen past his prime. He is not the prverbial glue that holds this team together. This team will be just fine with or without him. We don't owe him anything. His jersey isn't getting retired. He's a nice guy, decent player, little more.
Battier's help defense is still solid, even if he isn't as quick. He still has the instincts to be in the right place at the right time.
Battier might be the cornerstone defender but he isnt untouchable. No way you knock back a Bosh or dare to dream LeBron deal with Battier as the deal breaker. Hes gone in those circumstances
I think if the Rockets do send Battier to Toronto, they will send cash to facilitate a buy out. Now after the buy out, we don't know where Battier will end up. (hopefully with the Rockets)
When Kobe says you are the best at defending him you are not overated. He is still a luxory to have and top defender.
Battier is the reason we have good chemistry. He is politically correct, nice guy easy to get along with. He treats everyone with respect rookie or not. His close bond with last years' Elder class was a great example to follow. Chuck Hayes was our team captain along with Battier. If he goes, then so does our chemistry.
