    How do you guys think the ownership of the colonies/planets will realistically play out? Governments? Companies? Or even individuals if they discover it first?

    Never going to happen, lets just build super fast trains and later maybe Mexico will give us a ride to space in the future.

    No matter who colonizes it first, that planet will eventually want and get sovereignty.

    This event will be decided after a long waged war between each planet's army of giant mechanized robots.

    Let's say a company is the only inhabitant or invested party on a planet. Do you think they company would be responsible for it's actions on that planet back on the homeworld (Earth)?

    Well, I was more or less thinking actions against humans. I guess that could work too, permitting there were laws against what was being done in the movie.

    I would say Companies, just remember in Avatar that a mine-digging company wants that little rock on Pandora to cover up all the expenses they need on the planet, and for now I don't think any of the countries on Earth has enough financial power and man power to do that. Profit comes first.
