i dont know about yall but if we get lewis where does rice come in????? we would have eddie griffin, rice, lewis, t mo, and nachbar..... thats too many Small fowards........ we need to get rid of some if we plan on getting lewis
We may possibly lose Rice if we get Lewis. (S&T) But if we get him for the mce, some players could play more than one position: TMO:SF,PF GRIFF:C,PF,SF Rice:SF,SG Boki:SF,SG This is how I would see it. Lewis may also be able to play another position.
And your point is....? Here Clutch warns about useless posts, and I'm as guilty as anybody. But seriously, about Glen Rice not getting minutes if we acquire Rashard.... W H O C A R E S ?
I very seriously doubt Seattle would want Glen Rice's contract in a sign and trade for Rashard. Mo Taylor is a more likely candidate, especially now that Vin Baker has been traded away. But yes, I agree with the above posters, finding minutes for Glen Rice is not a primary concern for the Rockets.
OH NO!!! i didn't realize that when i thought that they should get lewis. i totally forgot about the superstar that they have in Rice. but seriously man, WHO CARES?
If we get Lewis it will be with a sign and trade deal which would require a 3rd team with cap space..IE Bulls, Clipps, etc. Lewis would become a BYC player which means the Sonics can only take back 50% of Lewis' salary. Now that rules out any kind of deal between just Houston and Seattle. We could not absorb the 50% of Lewis' salary while sending Seattle the other 50%. IF Chi is willing to take lets say Rice and Tito and they send Jamal Crawford and Fizer to Seattle and then Seattle would send a S&T Lewis to Houston, well that might work salary wise. Either way we need help in a S&T. The MCE is not a possiblity for Houston.
This is my line of thinking on the subject. Somebody point out the holes in my logic (they're always there), but I'm at work and the last thing I feel like doing is, well, working, so... Chicago learned in its summer league games that Fric & Frac (Curry and Chandler) aren't ready for prime time. Don't get me wrong: in a couple of years, they're gonna be studs. Chicago still wants to add veterans. I don't think they need to add more major pieces. The boys (Chandler, Curry, Jay Williams)just need to grow up together. It has also been clear that Jamal Crawford's a little miffed that he's going to lose his j-o-b. Forget anything in the media that says otherwise. Crawford can play the 2, but Trent Hassell, Mason (2nd round pick) and some guy named, uh, Jalen something?, can all play the 2 as well. And Crawford wants to play the point. As far as Gary Payton, Seattle doesn't act like they want to keep him long-term. Maybe they do, maybe they don't. Marcus Fizer is on the block...but Curry and Chandler cannot man the frontcourt alone. (Don't even get me started on "Dollybar" (Dalibar) Bagaric as the center.) Would Da Bulls have interest in Mo Taylor? Give'em Mo, let'em keep Drew obligation, maybe the rights to Tito Maddox, hell, maybe even T-Mo, too (hate to do it); Crawford is a Seattle native; the Sonics could use Fizer.
Glen Rice is quietly waiting for training camp and preseason to begin so he can see if his body can take another NBA season. It does not appear likely that he will play, though ego is a terrible thing (see: Olajuwon, Ewing). The Rockets have effectively replaced Rice with Eddie Griffin, Terence Morris, and Bostjan Nachbar. Rice may as well bow out now. I have heard this in 2 or 3 other websites. So, if we get Lewis, Rice might retire. Source: Hoopsworld
I'd love Rice to retire in order to give playing time for the young ones. But I'd love to get Lewis only for the exception. If we do a sign and trade involving Taylor, I think we will be short now in the PF position. Griff has the height but he has not enough mass to bang with others. Kenny is good but he lacks height. Who shall we get for Tayor's replacement just in case? Our SF and SG will be locked by then.
The contract that Seattle is offering Lewis is something like $8.6 million a year (7 years). Since he's not wanting to sign for anything like that, I imagine that a sign and trade would have him making even more than that, right? Well, Mo Taylor is making roughly $8 million per year. Rice is making just about the same until 2004. That right there is $16 million. If Lewis gets what he wants, apparently that will be about 10 mil a year. Throw in another Sonic or two worth 6 million and we can ditch two big contracts for one that might be somewhere near worth having.
i dont think Lewis has much popularity. He aint that good but just a young star. Rockets have too many player at sf position. Rockets don't need another sf player for now.
