Given that it's very possible we don't finish with the worst record as well as not winning one of the top 4 picks in the lottery, whom would people go for?
The Rockets can control whether they get a top 5 pick. If they **** this up and win too many games and it ends up biting them in the ass? I don’t care who they draft and will be more concerned about who replaces Silas and Stone.
I am thinking Jalen Duren might be a good pick. A stronger Clint Capela that could develop a 3 point shot would be a great compliment to our current players. Give us everything we need. Rim protections, a lob finisher, strong rebounder, and if he extends his range, he could play with Sengun on the floor as well. He could be the defensive anchor this team badly needs.
Mathurin for sure. Griffin's another good option, both guys offer perimeter shooting as their biggest strength. But Mathurin has shown more ability as an on-ball defender and ballhandler.
I’m actually surprised Murray doesn’t get more love. He’s my clear #5 prospect. Good size, great shooting splits, solid defender, averaged 23+ PPG. What’s not to love?
You’re right he should have a lifetime job as he is a great coach. I am already worrying about in three years when he is a free agent if we will step up and pay him what he’ll demand to stay. This team simply can’t survive without Silas. He is a legendary coach in that there aren’t many in the history of this league that play all their veterans in meaningless games and still are so skilled to lose.
The best big or 3&D available. I want a mobile big who can switch easily with an SF in the defense or a long 3&D. The Rockets got enough firepower. It just needs to be managed either with a good PG or Point Forward/Center or a very good system. Defense is the area where Rockets is most lacking. A bruiser with lots of motor, that's what Rockets is looking for. Softies should be banned and thrown. I think Rockets had enough of those players.
Keegan is intriguing. He's 6'8". And because he's a 2nd year college, more time spent growing, and hopefully more polished and mature when he enters the NBA. From a growth stand point, matches better with the other newly turned 20/21 yrs olds on the squad. Rocket's 22-23 season is right around the corner, team has to show something.
His age and not sure how his defense will translate to the NBA despite being pretty good in college. Reminds me of Marcus Morris, but again hopefully a better defender. He gets love he’s been listed 5-10 on most drafts for a while.
