I gathered some data and here was my results. Enjoy!

*-Nov. 5th vs. Seattle (Seattle would be 20-31)
    ?-Nov. 15th @Phoenix (Phoenix would be 29-24)
    ?-Nov. 24th @Clippers (Clippers would be 17-35)
?-Dec. 6th @New Orleans (New Orleans would be 27-27)
    ?-Dec. 13th @Memphis (Memphis would be 14-37)
*-Dec. 23rd vs. Utah (Utah would be 30-22)
*-Dec. 27th vs. NY Knicks (NY Knicks would be 22-29)
*-Jan. 4th vs. Golden State (GS would be 23-29)
    ?-Jan. 10th @Atlanta (Atlanta would be 19-34)
?-Jan. 20th @ San Antonio (SA would be 35-17)
    ?-Jan. 26th @Chicago (Chicago would be 17-36)
*Jan. 29th vs. Dallas (Dallas would be 39-13)
    ?-Feb. 5th @Cleveland (Cleveland would be 9-44)
*Feb. 11th vs. Utah (Utah would be 29-23)
*Feb. 14th vs. Atlanta (Atlanta would be 18-35)
    -----
    *= home game (7)
    ?=Should've won, reguardless (8)

So if we won the games we should've won, this is how the Western Conference standings would stand up:

    1-Houston/42-9
    2-Sacramento/36-18
    3-Dallas/39-13
    4-San Antonio/35-17
    5-Portland/33-18
    6-Minnesota/33-20
    7-Phoenix/29-24
    8-LA Lakers/26-25

While you are at, go back and look at every team and the games they "shouldnt have lost". You will find that we would be hovering around the 8th seed.

Also, you forgot about Utah in your updated seedings.

    Damn, my bad.

    1-Houston/42-9
    2-Sacramento/36-18
    3-Dallas/39-13
    4-San Antonio/35-17
    5-Portland/33-18
    6-Minnesota/33-20
    7-Utah/29-23
    8-Phoenix/29-24

And if the playoffs started like that:

    Houston/Phoenix-Houston wins

    San Antonio/Portland--San Antonio wins

    Dallas/Minnesota-Dallas wins

    Sacramento/Utah-Sacramento wins
    ------------------------------------------------

    Houston/San Antonio-San Antonio wins

    Dallas/Sacramento-Sacramento wins
    ------------------------------------------------
San Antonio/Sacramento-Sacrmento wins and goes to the finals!

    (boooooooo!)

But seriously, ift he matchups are favored our way, then theres a good chance we can make it to the WCF.

the rockets should be better than timberwolves, suns and jazz if they had take advantage of yao's skills as a passer and scorer. when watching many rockets games, i saw a confused yao, who wasn't sure where to go on the floor. should he cut to the basketball and ask for th ball or get out of the way for the guards to take the ball to the hole and challenge the whole opponent team. unfortunately, yao often chose the latter, which has destroyed the rockets' hope of being in the playoffs. the rockets has to thank francis, mobley, griffin and posey for sending the team to early vacation.

You need to subtract "games we shouldn't have lost" with "games we shouldn't have won" before coming up with the final number.

I'm a Rockets fan in my heart but to tell you what I really think about the "games we shouldn't have won" That # would be 2 games. Yes, 2. The lakers game on 1/17 and the game we blew out the Jazz last Wednesday. So therefore, just because you ask for it, you got it. Our team chemistry sucks. But I still think we can make it in the playoffs and get past the 2nd round.

Every team can do this and come up with a good result, even teams with crappy records.

For example, the Clippers have lost 17 games that they've led in the fourth quarter. Yes, 17 games. Win just half of those and they are over .500. Win them all and they're damn near the best team in the Pacific!

Also, I believe the Sonics in one stretch lost three consecutive games in the final seconds. How's that for heartbreak?

Point is, every team loses games they "should have" won. At least you guys can still cling to playoff hopes.

Upsets happen in the world of sports. If there were no upsets, then the best teams should go undefeated in the regular season and playoffs.

Was it an upset that the Mavericks were 14-0 when they went into Concieco Field House (sp.) the night after going up against the Pistons in Mo' Town and came out with the Loss? That's just as hard as a lonestar-state road trip and doing the Texas-3-step (Mavericks/Spurs/Rockets) and comming out with three W's.
