Do we do it and who do we take....

    Kwame Brown
    Eddy Curry
    etc.

This is a tough call. I lean towards Kwame, but you still really need a great center to win the big one. Question is, is this the next great center?

Kwame is almost a guaranteed remake of KG.

    Thoughts????

I think the better question is How do we get the 2nd overall pick? I don't think we have the players they need to do this deal. To answer your question, I think Curry will have a weight problem. I would take Griffen. Oh, I guess that does not answer your question again.

If we did get #2, assuming Griffin is chosen #1, we must go for Brown. However, if the Rockets are going for a center, they should go for Diop unless they think Curry at 6'10" is going to grow at least another two inches. Otherwise, Curry's future is at PF just like Brown. Diop has the size, mobility and work ethic for center -- but does he have the heart of a champion?

I'm really starting to lean towards Diop should we get a higher pick.

I think that Griffin is the consensus #1 at this point. I would say Brown (mainly because of questions about Curry's weight).

Why not trade for the #1 pick?

Cat made a reply in another post some days ago that made a lot of sense: really athletic quality guards and small forwards come around a lot more frequently than good athletic quality centers (please forgive my paraphrasing of your thought, Cat). Ergo, if we secure a really, really high draft choice, we need to go after a center.

True, but what do we have for the #2 pick? I didn't think it mattered.

No way if rockets got that lucky to trade up for the 1st or 2nd would they pick any of the top 3 players. They would choose Battier because he is a senior and more mature, no matter how much upside Griffin or Curry had. To my knowledge Rudy and co have never drafted anything but seniors.
