Then according to an excellent analyis by Miguel we can count the playoffs out and we can use the last 10 games or so to evaluate talent. We can then start playing for the future. 1) No more playing time for Howard, Wesley, Deke, Bowen. Is there some way to put them on a disabled list so we can open up their spots to audition some more develop league players? Stro also sits as we know what he brings, which is complete unpredictability. 2) Yao plays a lot as all players need to evaluated in terms of how they play with Yao. Encourage Yao to experiment, see how selfish and dominant he can be. 3) Tracy of course continues rehab and is our for the season.. All steps incuding the common sense one of resting him should be taken to avoid the Grant Hill scenario. 3) Allston plays only as l necessary to keep complete chaos from happening and/or allowing the other players to have a good audition. This assumes you think he is at least an important role player,so his status is clear. 4) Bogans continues auditioning unless you feel his position as a role player is secure, in which case you play him only as much as necessary to keep those who are auditioning from exhaustion. 5) Lamphe plays all the backup center minutes. He also gets evaluated at PFwith Yao playing 4) Hayes auditions at SF as well , We already know that at PF he is limited to a 12th man Bowen type role or shcok troop role.. 5) Luther plays at PG as much as possible. That is his future unless you just see an occasional defensive-energy/shock troop role 6) Frahm, Brunson should be auditioned at their spots. There should be no loyalty and as soon as evaluated negatively , they should be moved out and other folks brough in to audtion with Yao and the others.
i don't agree with u, on some part. i don't think we shoud sit stro... he didn't show us his consistency, so maybe he can finaly step up with all the scrub players playing with him. chuck hayes should play sf several games.. if it doesn't work, play him at the pf behind stro. i'm not sure if bogans want to be here next season, so thats still a question mark to me. Luther should play sg/pg... hes a better passer now, but i still think hes not a true pq yet. so our lineup should look like this Rafer/Luther Luther/Bogans luther can play 40 minutes... Bogans/Hayes Swift/Hayes Yao/Lampe make yao only play 20 minute.... this could be a breather for him
Hayes doesn't shoot well enough for a NBA PF, much less a SF. On Lampe, I would like to see a lot more of him as well. The guy is only 21, and we all know that big men take longer to develop.
Exactly and he has talent just like MIlicic and needs JVG to be determined and patientto develop him.I dont want us to ruin our chances of having a first class Forward in a couple of years.
I agree with glynch on everything except the Hayes at SF part. If he has a place in this league and this team, it's at PF. I see him as an Eduardo Najera type (at least the guy who played for Dallas) that brings energy off the bench. With more playing time, I think he can develop into a solid bench option. But, yes, once we're eliminated from the playoffs (any day now), it's time to treat the rest of the season as the 2007 preseason. Sit the old guys. Play the role players AND Yao, and RA too. Play Head at PG. Lot's of PT for Bogans, Hayes, Lamphe, let's see what these guys can do. Something tells me JVG won't do it though...
I don't know. This was talked about on 610 the other day, and I agree with what the announcers were arguing. Besides Lampje, everybody on the team is either a known quantity or getting minutes. Bogans and Head are getting starters minutes. Everybody else who is heathy to play is getting minutes off the bench. The only possible move you could make is to start Stro and rest Juwon or Yao. What else can you do? Every other possibility and combination has been tried. The young guys are getting minutes. What else is there to do?
I agree - we should definately see what Lampe and Hayes can do. I like the idea of letting Hayes play the 3 spot even though he might have trouble. Head Bogans Hayes Lampe Stro I mean we are basically out of the play-off race - so why not? The starting line up should be... Rafer Head Bogans Stro Yao
Good plan, since we're probably not making the playoffs anyways, and winning games would just hurt our draft position. Lampe needs to see the floor, that's for sure. Head needs to play the point, so he can learn for later. Bogans needs to start. Hayes needs to play more. Brunson and Frahm should play more too, but they kind of suck. This is all if we even do this plan, which I don't see happening for some reason. However, I think you guys are too hard on Swift because he's not what we've expected. The last 2 or so weeks he's been pretty consistent and while he may not be playing a stud PF, he's been doing OK. I'm sure with more playing time, he'll only get better.
Excellent time to bring in Fizer from our D-team -- he pumped in 40 again last night and is averaging 22.2 on the year.
Does anyone think Van Dummy will actually look at what he has? Knowing him, he will be trying to win to the end and probably cost us 2 to 4 spots in the draft in the process.
you already get to. usually about 10 minutes a game. while howard is out there limping around for about 30.
His job is to help win games. No coach tanks a season for a lottery pick. I understand wanting to see what we have to work with, but unless CD or Les demands it, you can't fault JVG for trying to win games and keep fans in the seats
