Nothing would make me happier than Utah getting the 8 seed and for them to get obliterated by the Lakers in the playoffs. I hate the Jazz that much, and they are the only team outside the Lakers that is a horrible match up for us. They remind me so much of our match up issues with the old Seattle Supersonics back in the Championship years. If Utah gets knocked out, I think we fair extremely well against the rest.
Let's not get ahead of ourselves here. We have a rather embarrassing playoff drought to shed first before we start worrying about the WC Finals.

wouldn't them obliterating the lakers make you happier? they have the potential to give the lakers trouble...the mavs dont (and the mavs could knock off the nuggets).
It would certainly help to see them at 8, but just because their 8th doesn't mean we are going to the WCF. We need to finish 3rd, to avoid the Lakers in the second round if we are to advance. Certainly we could potentially beat any opponent in the first round we are likely to face, which could be NO, Portland, or SA, I will assume the Lakers, Nuggets, Mavs, and Jazz are locked to play each other in the first round, just depends on who finishes 8th, Jazz or Mavs. However, like I said, we really have to hope we get the 3rd, and avoid the Lakers, who are as close to certain as possible to play in the WCF, lets take that bottom bracket fellas! As of now Portland, SA, and Houston are all tied at 50-28, I think because SA is 9-6 in our division and we are 8-6 they hold the tie breaker, we play the Mavs and NO, and they play NO, so it is in our hands, we win out we take 3rd, they win out and they're still behind us due to the tiebreaker! I think I have this right, I didn't look at any of the records, just going off of what I believe to be correct memory haha. I hope the Jazz finish 8th so they can get beat in the 1st round, I don't want them to advance and lose in the 2nd round, CRUSH THEM LA! If they ARE to play the Lakers in the first round, I will be watching that series as if it were the Rockets, cheering the Lakers on for the first time in my life!

there is no way in hell the jazz are beating the lakers, i would rather see them be crushed than root for them
Sorry guys but I may have let my hate of the Jazz go overboard on all this, but I would love for them to get knocked out early. Also, if they are to be the 8th seed and perform well but lose, it may help the Rockets because it may wear down the Lakers. If the Lakers lose (highly unlikely) it enhances our chances as well. I guess if the Lakers v Jazz matchup does take place in round 1, we win either way. We don't match up very well with either one. At least one of them will be KO'd early. Sorry but I don't think that Denver can take out the Jazz in a playoff series.
I would love to face Utah in the WCF. At that point we would have momentum, and the refs might finally have to acknowledge Yao as a force worthy of the benefit of the doubt just like all the other NBA superstars. It would take the rivalry back to its level in the old days, and Utah fans might have to fess up and acknowledge that they do in actuality hate us more than they hate the Lakers.
you guys are on crack if you think Utah will beat the Lakers. last year the Lakers spanked Utah without Bynum or Ariza and this year they are going to have both. however just having the Utah/Lakers matchup is good for the fact that as everyone said, they are the Rocket's worst matchups and if they eliminate each other it's a good thing. the Rocket's biggest hopes was for Lakers to spank Utah and Spurs to take out Lakers, but with Manu out, that is pretty slim. i'm 99% sure that if you want to see the Rockets have a shot at the chip, the road to the finals will go through the Lakers out in the west.
btw forgot to add that the rockets have a better shot at beating the lakers than the j*zz does.. the rockets have battier/artest to slow down kobe, kobe totally rapes the jazz almost single handedly (not as bad as vs mavs though but still pretty bad)
