Well, it does not take a scientist to notice that SF3 and Yao's games don't work well together. Actually it's like fire and water and one's game is suppressing the other's game.

To be fair on SF3, the Rockets might need to look at the issue in both ways. This is a two way street and the Rockets management need to decide whether to trade SF3 or Yao.

If we decide to build the team around Yao, I'd like to see us aggressively going at the best players available:

    1) We need to a second star player and it will work best if that's a 2 guard who is a great outside shooter and can play both half court and open court game. Kobe is out of question. TMac is my 1sts choice, followed by Ray Allen.

    2) Rasheed.

    3) A solid PG on the borderline of role/star player who can dish the rock and knocks down open jumpers. Hinrich is my top choice followed by Berry.

Yao + Rasheed + TMac(Allen) + Hinrich (Berry) has championship written all over it.

We can also trade Yao. IF the Rockets place Yao on the block, I believe all other 28 teams will listen to the offer.

Spurs and Minny will let us cherry pick anyone except TD and Garnett.

Kings will offer Webber + Divac or Miller + Divac for Yao + cap fillers.

Detroit might throw in Ben + Darko.

    Boston can offer Pierce.

As such, SF3 will get a star player in the front court who does not mind playing up-tempo game. Now the guards can go back to ISO and trigger happy, and we will again see SF3 close to 20/6/6.

Why would any team with any concept of what it's doing want to trade Yao?

Besides Duncan and Garnett who from the Spurs or T-Wolves, who could we cherry pick that would come close to equal value? Are Webber and Divac going to dominate the game for the next decade? Ben and Darko? Paul Pierce???

If you missed last night's game, you really should find a tape of it, just to see what Yao is capable of doing against the man regarded as the best center in the game.

Unless the Rockets are expecting Yao to have an Eddie Griffin experience, there is no reason to trade him, ever. It's impossible to get comparable value in return. Last night's game should put an end to any Yao trade rumors, and hopefully the silly speculation about Yao someday bolting for LA.

For once and for all, THE ROCKETS WILL NOT TRADE YAO! NOT FOR ANYBODY. IF POPOVICH CALLED TODAY AND OFFERED DUNCAN +, WE WOULD NOT TRADE YAO! GARNETT, NOPE!

    SOMEONE PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD!

It's weird how people don't get mad when a "trade francis" tread starts, but when a trade Yao one starts, someone will want the tread to be locked, that seems weird cuz that is just a suggestion, just like the trade francis, and while I would personally not want to see any of these two players traded, i believe that while someone might not agree with you, that's no reason to lock a tread, that just sounds imature and childish.

Trading Yao to another Western Conference team would be one of the worst decision a GM can make (besides loosing all the money that goes with him).

With your proposal, just immagine opponets like

    Kings:

    PG- Bibby
    SG- Christie
    SF- Peja
    PF- Miller
    C - Yao

Imagine the passing and shooting on this team?

or Spurs (say we got Nesterovic, Ginobili and Turkoglu in return and I am sure they will also give us picks to sweeten up the deal)

    PG- Parker
    SG- Bowen
    SF- Rose
    PF- Ducan
    C - Yao

How many opposing teams will score more than 80 against this?

Wolves (say we got Sprewell, Olowokandi, a future number 1 pick and cash)

    PG- Cassell
    SG- Trent
    SF- Szczerbiak
    PF- Garnett
    C - Yao

This team has so much versatility, its going to be hard to stop.

    Piston:

    PG- Billups
    SG- Hamilton
    SF- Prince
    PF- R.Wallace
    C - Yao

This looks like a Eastern Conference Champ to me, but aleast they are in the East

As for Pierce for Yao, you must be kidding. We could get way more than that from Eastern Conference teams that lack decent, let alone potentially great big man.

Unless its Yao for Duncan or Garnett, its hard to imagine Rockets would even consider trading him.

    SUM-

It has nothing to do with Yao being traded. It just won't happen. I am against trading Francis but that is possible.

I know it won't happen, i was just trying to make a point that just because someone has different opinions, it doesn't mean a tread has to be locked, nothin against anyone though.:)

I am not a YOF, but I like Yao and Rockets, and wish that the Rockets build the team around Yao.

I am just expressing my view that any trade is possible. And to be fair with SF3, the Rockets need to look for all kinds of possibilities. Can the Rockets build a championship team around SF3 + Pierce + CM5 + future picks? I don't think so. But the management team certainly should look at all different solutions.

Meanwhile, adding Yao to Spurs, Kings, Minny, and even Pistons might mean a dynasty for these teams for the next decade.

Also I sure enjoyed last night's game and hope that the Rockets build around Yao. SF3 is a great talent, but he is suffering (sacrificing his game) from playing with Yao.

Why would we want to do that?

YAO IS AS UNTOUCHABLE AS ANYONE EVER IN THE HISTORY OF THE NBA! I don't want to sound like a homer. If he was on any other team, I would be saying the same thing.

Call me crazy but I think if we want to make a really really big trade, why don't we trade away half of this team to get L. J.? Then we will have two mega stars with arguebaly the #1 sports marketing value in the world. Yao and L.J. plus 3 more warm bodies should dominate the league for years to come. Fantacy? Could be reality? Huh? :D

Actually I have a better idea. I'll add another "Free Yao Ming" letter to Dave Stern. The kind of $ potential is hard to resist for any commissioner :)

Do not mention this too often. The Mavericks with Mark Cuban money would give Les $ 100 mil US for Yao. Paul Allen would trade a block of Microsoft for Yao. Les appears to like money, and would be a fool to pass up good money.

Do not mention this -they may trade Yao- for Money not talent......$$$$$$$$$$

Why many people here want R. Wallace? He has peaked, he will demand tons of money, he is not famous for contributing to chemistry, and is he a good passer or great rebounder??

R Allen is a sweet dream. whenever I see we miss so many open 3s, I want a shooter so much! Duncan is a wild dream. Give me twin towers of Yao+Duncan, I don't care the rest of team:)

Be serious, all the trading is dependant on the playoff prospect. If we pass the first round, or we fight hard (like lose at 6 or 7) in the 1st round, I don't think the core of the team will be traded.

SF is a good bait, but it is really hard to find out someone who deserves SF and the opposite team wants to pull the trigger. I don't like the idea of trading SF for two or three good/decent players. Cat has a really cheap contract, he is adjusting to the system, so maybe the end of the story. Otherwise, we don't have anything valuable. Cato or M Talor? Unlukily both of them have a fat contract which is not so attractive.

I would like to get rid of cat for a SG or SF like another JJ. Somebody that can shoot but doesn't have to shoot 15 times a game and play good defense. Also if we could get rid of MoT and get a better PF. Would need one that can score when Yao goes to the bench, grab some rebounds and play better defense. Would like to keep cato around for when Yao is resting.
