Mark Jackson will be the best move the Rockets have made in a long time. When he is on the floor, he makes the correct pass at the correct time and FINALLY, someone can make correct entry passes to Yao or feed him on the pick and roll.

Excellent signing. Finally some brains at the PG position. Francis can now move to the 2 when Jackson is in the ball game.

For those who saw the game, how was Jackson on the defensive end of the court? Both one-on-one and team defense.

Terrible, but not much worse than Francis. Whats the difference of getting burned by 3 steps versus 1 step. The PG still gets an open look.

Man. If steve could pass like MJ, Rox would definitely become a contender. Sigh.

By the way, steve's defence is not so good either.

The problem with the Rox's guards of Francis and Mobley is that when they do pick and roll with Yao, their purpose is to shoot by using Yao to block off their man and never look to pass back to Yao AT ALL!!! So Yao's talent is wasted that way cuz he can shoot.

I am not talking about Jackson being a defensive whatever. I am talking about that he can spell Francis from time to time, its absolutely worth it. The man knows how to pass and makes the right decisions.

With him at the one and Francis at the two, its not that bad. This is only to change the look of the team occasionaly and give Francis a break. If Jackson gets hot, leave him in. PLUS, I love his passing ability. The game runs really nice when he is in there. I think he is an excellent backup to Steve. Changes the look of the team, gives Francis a break from all the responsibilities AND he makes the smart passes into the post and to the other players.

Yao has at least as good a shooting touch as Cat and SF so it is pretty stupid to not pass it to him if he is open from 15-18 feet.

I am convinced that JVG has been reading my posts....I have been calling for Mark Jackson all year.

He is PERFECT for this team.

MJ was a great pick up as our back up PG. This team lacked a pass first experienced PG and that is exactly what they got in Mark Jackson. Watching Mark and Yao passing the ball between each other made me think think we were the Kings for a few plays. Great pick up Rocks!

well good call by you then.

jackson was okay on D, i mean you give the other point guard some jumpers, i'm fine with that because Yao closes the paint. as long as we're not playing against good shooting PGs like Bibby then we're fine.

Well, Jackson is a major candidate for the St. John's head coaching job.

The thing with Houston is that they can afford to have a guard that is not the best defensive guard. That is because of Yao Ming. Anyone who pass Mark Jackson at the perimeter will face a big guy in the paint and have to pass the rock out. That covers the slow moving guard Mark Jackson.

I have always believed that one of the two main reasons that the Rox improved their defensive game this season is the presence of Yao Ming. Of course the other is JVG.

lets not take away from Yao, Maurice, Jim Jackson, and Mark Jackson tonight.

yeah thats great steve didnt have his usual 6 turnovers but his shot was off tonight along with mobley

SF 4-14 29% (OUCH!!!! going back to that cnnsi.com article: SF most underachieved player this season)
    Mobley 4-12 33%.....

Did anyone see that bounce pass he threw to Yao when he first came in? That was so pretty. Thats not easy to throw to a seven footer. Another thing. He gets people the ball where they can be most effective. He was great at feeding Yao. The Jackson Boys and Mo Taylor are great at getting Yao the ball. We know that Mo is either going to shoot it or give Yao the ball. The way hes been playing I can live with that! :) He's making the Eddie Griffin this alot easier to live with...he still over paid though :)

with jackson the pick and roll is awesome now because he gives the ball back to yao sometimes, this will be a tough play for opponents to guard

I just like the fact that with Jackson here, SF can be benched once in a while for poor play. Like tonight against the knicks.
