Who would you rather we draft?

    Adrian Peterson or Calvin Johnson?

    I vote Johnson.

If I had to choose between the two, then I go with Calvin.

I'd hate to do that trade though.

Arguably you're getting great talent value getting either CJ or AP but, I think AP can potentially make a far greater impact on our offense than CJ. So based on that, plus AP is a flat-out pit bull, bulldog competitor. We get AP you will see a lot of smiles here locally. Very slim chance that AP becomes anything but a superstar.

Calvin Johnson had a great season but, when he went to the bowl game, he basically got shut out of the offense. AP did little vs Boise State but did get a big TD run in OT to temporarily give the Sooners the lead 42-35.

    Thus, I pick AP.

Well, you have good reasoning. However, Johnson didnt get shut out of that game. He dominated. 9 catches for 186 yards and 2 TD's. 6'6' 235 pounds, 4.35 in the forty, 40 inch vertical, and catches everything thrown to him. He is like one of those video game players you can create and he has every category maxed out.

CJ was great in the bowl game, especially considering GT's backup QB was running the show. (although that's somewhat compensated by the fact that they played west virginia's secondary which is just awful and he was replacing Reggie Ball who isn't exactly Peyton Manning)

They lost that game because Pat White just willed WVU to victory. But Johnson was everything and more.

Ok my bad, that's just what I heard. Must have been a regular season game in conference I heard about or something. My mistake. Evenstill, I think AP's impact would supercede even albeit slightly that of CJ's but Johnson has freakish talent ability written all over him. Either way we would be good. :D

The thread title, "If the Texans pull off the Carr/#8/extra pick for the Browns #3..." makes this seem like a real rumor out there.

Has this been mentioned in the media?

it has. Saw a blurb in a cleveland paper about it. But it's still unlikely to happen.

Adrian Peterson....give me a stud RB who touches the ball 25 times a game versus a stud Receiver who touches it 8 or so......

    More impact.

I'd rather that they didn't make the trade in any situation. But if they trade up for anyone other than Joe Thomas, I'll throw something.

No way that deal would be on the table. With the lack of ability to showcase Carr talent when he was here because the resistence to try to improve the offensive line. We won't get anything higher than a 4th round draft pick for Carr. Think about it all the Oilers got for Warren Moon was a 4th round pick and the NFL teams value thier pics more now of days than they did then. If they trade Carr and sign jake Plummer they shouldn't draft a QB in this draft they should wait a year because they will have the number 1 pick in next years draft. Listen people I've said it once before and I will say it again Jake Plummer SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!

DaDa, also when we sign Lelie we will have AJ number 1 Lelie number 2 and a guy who I think will be a stud slot guy in Walter. not to mention Mathis could also develop into a guy who you can put out there and strecth the field.

In this senario I'll take Peterson and then use a middle round pick on a qb to develop and other than one pick on ol I use the rest on defense.

    Calvin Johnson is different.

i think Calvin is the most sure thing in this draft. this isn't Charles Rogers.

I like Peterson a lot but Johnson is probably the only sure thing in the draft.
Either way you will have a potent offense even if it is Carr/Sage/Kolb pulling the trigger. I go with Peterson though.

I would take AP. Atleast you have a good wideout already(A.J) but we have nothing at runningback. If I can get a franchise back i'll take him anyday over a franchise wideout.

Peterson would be great value at #8, but I seriously doubt it at #3. If the Texans ever get to that positon(something I'm against personally as we need all the picks we have), the only two players to choose from are Joe Thomas and Calvin Johnson. Pick anyone else and I'd be seriously pissed.

So, you are assuming Joe Thomas goes at #2 ?
