and win the championship would they be questioned? I was thinking about the old argument that if Jordan never left, the Rockets would not have won a championship let alone a back-to-back. And it popped in my head, with the injury plagued west as of right now (TMac's curse is spreading throughout the west  ) would people question them if the Rockets start to click and escape the west as champions? Or will they give them the credit they deserve, since there were such high expectations for them since the beginning? While its too soon to be thinking championship, I found it to be an interesting thought.

The media is always going to question the Rockets and other teams will have their excuses.

Either way that won’t take away the hardware, never has never will.

Don't you already know that they will question it because MJ retired if we win the championship. :D

There's never going to be another Jordan. No one questions Detroit/SA winning championships while Shaq was injured.

I have a friend that says that to me all the time about MJ not playing 93/94-94/95 seasons, it's a bunch of baloney. You can't assume stuff like that.

If they do go all the way, we should set up a booth with a curtain for T-Mac to put his left a right butt cheeks in and make half the board kiss his black arse before they can post again.

Well Jordan already retired, so any championship after that has an * right next to it.

I think the media would question it because Pat Garrity retired at the beginning of the season.

    * The Rockets caught alot of breaks in 08-09, Yao Ming did not get seriously injured (played more than 70 games) and they actually had all of their key players healthy for the playoffs, so chances for a repeat is unlikely for this team. Especially with ailing T-Mac, FA Artest, and an injury prone Yao Ming. One Year Wonder....

    * The Rockets might be the worst title team ever who benefitted from not having to play the Celtics. The 08-09 Rockets had the second worse for an NBA champion...the first 94-95 Houston Rockets.

    * The Rockets didn't have to play against any dominant teams, like the 90s Bulls or 80s Lakers...they mostly beat teams who were very flawed from the start (Lakers and Spurs). The Spurs were one of the oldest teams in league, while the Lakers were not motivated enough to win and lacked the defensive intensity to slow down the Rockets. Houston found themselves in very favorable position by playing ------- (insert Cleveland, Orlando, Detroit, or any EC team, besides the Celtics), a team that was not nearly as experienced, highly powered, or defensive inclined as the Celtics who fell in the 2nd Round of the Playoffs.

    * The Rockets benefitted from an injury-plagued (or divided) Lakers is the only reason, they swept their way through the Western Conference to win the NBA Finals against the Celtics in 7.

If they win this year, then the Celtics' win last year will have an * beside it, connotating: the Year Yao was out.

I don't think anybody could question the champions. Win it all, and you answer all the critics instantly.

Having said that, the Rockets would need a near miracle to win it this year as much as we keep hoping.

A miracle is a bit of stretch...especially for the Rockets. If there is anything close to a miracle it would be the Devil Rays or the Cardinals. Two franchises who were just downright awful and who many did not give a chance even being in the playoff picture.

How is it a miracle for the Rockets to win, when they do have one of the more talented teams in the league?
