... Do you think the Rockets made the right decision? In other words, if we basically had to pick Morey or Adelman, which would you have chosen?

The vibe I'm getting from this board right now is that most would have gone with Adelman and said screw Morey... what's funny is that earlier in the season, it seemed very much the opposite. I guess it's good at least that a coach gets as much blame as he does credit.

Anyways, I would go with Morey. While Adelman was a good coach, and I'm sad to see him go, if it came down to this conflict, then the Rockets made the right choice. Because Morey is a better GM.

seems like morey wants to rebuild but adelman doesn't.

adelman isn't a rebuild coach. he'll play the older guys over the younger ones to squeeze out wins.

if that's the case, i'm all for rebuilding

Well the coach didn't sign Brad to that contract... (Although Rick definitely played a role in that signing.)

Nothing against Adelman, but the answer is easily Morey. This is a players league and the ability to unearth and acquire players, valuable legitimate players, is far more important than a system oriented coach, no matter how good the system. In time, maybe soon, we will find another good coach. Hell, we've had Rick, JVG, and Rudy just in the recent past. But the ability to acquire talent is a talent lost upon the Kahn's and Baylor's of the NBA.

Kevin Martin and Brad Miller came cause they knew and enjoyed playing for Adleman's system but you can throw all that out the window now hopefully the new coach can have somthing like that where its a move without the ball offense.

Morey did not assemble a decent team in 4 years.

    That's a failed GM work.

Bingo. You hit the nail on the head, the team is rebuilding and Adelman is not a rebuilding type coach. The rockets are going in a different direction.

Injuries to all star players was a huge part.

    A. I definitely consider the Rockets at least "decent", especially considering that we have played the last few seasons without a huge chunk of our payroll on the court.

    B. It can take AGES to re-build a team from scratch, which is basically what Morey has had to do thanks to the crumbling of the Rockets' star duo. Just look at how long the Bulls were out of commission, or the Magic (who's crappy GM is running them right back into the gutter), or the Sixers, or the Pacers. The list goes on and on and on, and most of these teams haven't even had as dire circumstances as the Rockets have.

The poll is evening up pretty quickly, though. Kinda interesting.

I still say Morey is the clear choice for the reason verse explained as well as the above.

Then why did Morey sign Miller for 5 millions?

I believe the friction was more between Les and Rick than Morey and Rick.
As a owner, Les' job is just to make and save money.
And let's just admit our Rockets are goin nowhere for the next few seasons. 14th picks won't get us a superstar and we just don't have the assets/money to trade/sign for a franchise player. Basically we are stuck at medicore for years to come. Les knows it well and we do just that we don't want to admit it.
So it is understandable that Les not willing to pay millions for a veteran coach for a medicore team.
    Sad but true!

One guy knows basketball and has the highest winning percentage in Rockets history without the benefit of 2 star players he signed up to coach.

The other is a stats guy, who works the PR spin cycle, and needs lessons in people management.

Honestly, I like them both, but I would choose the coach who is a proven winner over the "getting famous" GM who has yet to prove his way works.

Adelman all the way... Adelman knows how to win games given the right players... He had a 6'6" center all season to work with.. what does Morey/Alexander expect?
