Then it would likely be drawn out until August 1st or 2nd when Austin Croshere becomes a 75% base year contract. Not because the Rox is where he'll be, BUT because the Pacers will have to clear his contract to stay under the Luxury tax Threshold, before acquiring Hakeem. As I have mentioned, it also, allows for a trade exemption which seems to be attractive to the Rox. This all ties in with the rumor that Austin would go to Detroit for a draft pick, that was floated out of Detroit a couple of weeks ago. Just FYI, nothing earth shattering, but if this lingers on, I start to think that Indy or someone other than the Rox will get him, imho. ------------------ http://jonathanbender.8m.com http://alharrington.8m.com http://jermaineoneal.8m.com
Speed, Nice analysis. Maybe nothing, but it could be a factor...I just can't see Dream as a Pacer. Not sure Croshere fits with DET, but guess he could run some SF/PF with Smith headed back to MIN and Wallace now seemingly their starting 5. ------------------
The Pacers are desperate to make a move for a legit low post defender, rebounder and Center. In spite of what the company line is about not being desperate. Hakeem would be the jackpot for the Centerless Pacers in the weak centered Eastern Conference. ------------------ http://jonathanbender.8m.com http://alharrington.8m.com http://jermaineoneal.8m.com [This message has been edited by Speed (edited July 25, 2001).]
