in 94. This is a response to tinmans MJ thread. I will dig up the old regular season game stats and playoff stats in years prior and following to validate my point. If anyone here has an argument as to why they think the Rockets would have beaten Shawn Kemp and the Sonics, I'd like to hear it. And no "Illegal" defense takes, the defense they ran was legal at the time. George Karl was a defensive genius. Also if the NBA had gone to the 7 game series in the 1st round then the Sonics would have beaten the Nuggets and the Rockets would be minus a championship.
theres really no point in getting into this argument. what if david robinson's tip after the buzzer in the regular season finale in 1993 was reffed properly and negated? then the rockets would have had home court advantage in the 1993 series vs the sonics that went 7 games with the home team winning every game. then the rockets may have won that series and gone on to a title in 1993. then the rockets may have gotten inside seattle's collective heads and beaten them again in 1994 . . . if ifs and buts were candy and nuts, what a wonderful world it would be.
you actually think you can beat me in these threads? I'll never stop til I die defending the Rockets. there's no what ifs in my thread, the Rocket beat the Bulls many times. But go ahead, fake fan go ahead.
This is a Rockets' board, so we get to play what-if games that benefit the Rockets. I refuse to play what-if games that benefit the Supersonics.
Well, logic says if you post something against the Rockets, especially the Hakeem years, than you aren't a Rockets fan. I don't see Laker fans saying what if Ralph Sampson didn't have a knee injury that they get taken again in 87. That's cause Laker fan never hates on their history. Celtic fan doesn't hate on Bird. Rocket fan should never EVER hate on Hakeem teams. NEVER. Oh, yeah, it was illegal defense played by the Sonics. We Rocket fans know.
Wait ... the Sonics lose to the 8 seed Nuggets in '94 and you come in here bragging that they would've beaten the 2 seed Rockets? STFU!
My thread has evidence of the ROCKET BEATING THE BULLS DURING THE AKEEM/HAKEEM HEAD-TO-HEAD MATCHUPS Guess what? they NEVER MET in the playoffs, but they DID MEET IN THE REGULAR SEASON. MANY TIMES. you thread is hating on the Rockets because you REFUSE TO ACCEPT THAT ROCKETS BEAT JORDAN'S BULLS MANY MANY TIMES.
Well it only took a few posts and my point was proven. It makes no sense to debate topics like these like the MJ topic on a Rocket's message board with Rocket fans because you don't get an equal debate, you get bias thoughts. And I am a rockets fan, but wanted to prove a point. You lose tinman.
I win . You thread is a response to my thread which is based on FACTS. You thread is based on SPECULATION. Go ahead tell me what false information I put on my thread. did Jordan not play in any of those games? answer me that.
Shall I dig up evidence of the Rockets / Sonics regular season records that year during head to head matchups???
I'm going to admit it: I am not sure we could have beaten the Sonics. Yes, they ABSOLUTELY played illegal defense, and the thought that George Karl is a defensive genius is laughable (see: Nuggets, Denver). The refs just weren't gonna call more than one or two illegal defense technicals per game. It was the most frustrating thing I'd ever seen. BUT: they beat us in 7 in 93 and they beat us in 4 in 96. They were just the team that had our number. It happens. But the best team in the league wins the championship every year.
Beat you in these threads? I beat you upside and down a few months ago about the Bulls vs Rockets. I dare you to post the link. After getting shredded several times, you were reduced to saying "Because Dream said so" after I destroyed your other nonsensical points. I haven't even opened the other thread that is current. That whole debate is so stale. As per Fred Sanford: Go eat some 8 day-old collard greens.
Sure, also cook me up some breakfast and shine my shoes too. I'm not going to DENY FACTS like you. Oh, the Nuggets DID BEAT the Sonics. same way any team beats any team, they score more points at the end. which happened when Michael Jordan faced Hakeem/Akeem on many occassions that you don't believe happened. Yeah, The Rockets lost to the Sonics before we got Barkley. tell me something I don't know. clearly I've been telling you things you don't know all day.
If you happen to be old enough to remember '94, the Sonics were maybe the toughest matchup for the Rockets. The Rox had no answer for Kemp, and Karl was brilliant in the way he handled Dream. I'm not saying it was a given that the Rox would not have made it past the Sonics, but when Denver took them out, there was a huge sigh of relief in Rocketland. I will never forget the sight of Deke laying on his back and looking up to the rafters when time expired, clutching the ball with that huge smile on his face. I am pretty sure I was not the only one thinking at that moment that "NOW we are going all the way."
Post the link. I'll cut and paste my points. Maybe one day when you are old the light bulb will come on and you'll realize teams don't play the regular season and the playoffs the same way, which is why MJ's Bulls won 6 championships.
