should the Rockets trade the #1 pick to the Bulls? I know it is just speculation, but hey the lottery is still far away. Who ever gets the #1 pick in the draft will pick Ming. Since China wants Ming to go to a big market team (Chicago,New York) they will probably make it difficult for other teams to get Ming this year or in the near future. What if the Bulls offered Curry and the 4th pick for the #1. Should the Rockets make the trade or just pick Ming? If the Rockets make the trade, then they would have a 7 footer and probably Qyntel Woods for next year. What do you guys think?
Oh great... Why would the Bulls trade Curry, a center who has looked good in his rookie year, AND the #4 pick for Ming, another center? I don't think the Bulls would trade Curry, because they know what he will bring, for Ming straight up. Let alone the #4 pick. The Bulls will look to trade their pick for a veteran. They are a young team that does not need any more projects. They have too many young guys as is.
I would MOST DEFINITELy do that trade!!! It would work out well for both teams. Granted, we could be missing out on a hell of a prospect in Ming, but if China puts restrictions on him, making him ineligable to play for a few seasons, it might not be worth him. I think if we could land a guy like Curry, who is still young, and has a lot of maturing to do, it would greatly benefit this team down the road. Curry's upside potential is imense! He could be a dominant center in this league in a few years, mainly when he develops an offensive game, and turns some of that baby-fat into muscle as Shaq did early in his career. Plus, we could draft someone like Woods at #4 this year, to pencil into our future sf plans, and use the #14 pick to draft the best available guy, like Kareem Rush, or Roger Mason. It would definitely take maybe, 2 to 4 seasons for this young, young team to develop, gel, and grow together, but you'd be looking, as well as other NBA teams, at something very scary night in and night out. It would really be tough for other teams to figure out how to play a team with that much talent on the floor. Think of it.....if all of these players gel, and develop the talent everyone knows they have, this would be one hell of a line-up: PG: Francis / Norris SG: Mobley / Rice (until he retires) / Rush or Mason SF: Woods / Morris / KT PF: Griffin / Taylor / KT C: Curry / Cato Put all of this together with a new stadium, new logo, new digs, and the Rockets are lookin good. Now the big question: What if China will only accept new York as a home for Ming? What could the Knicks give us as at least equal trade value, huh?
I just might accept that trade. However, if the Rockets really wanted Woods, it might be dangerous to move down to #4.
I would only do this if it was Chandler instead of Curry. Chandler is coming along better than Curry is.
kidrock8, Granted Curry has played good in his rookie season and both players are centers, but getting Ming along with all the Chinese population and the TV broadcast in China would be more than enough to give up Curry. Ming is 7'6" and if he develops could be much much better than Curry. Correct me if I'm wrong, but don't both Jerry's love attention more thannn...hell anything in this world! Curry + #4 vs. Ming + China broadcast + Chinese population + National TV + Personal TV spotlight. I believe Ming + incentives would win.
The Bulls want Jason Williams more than they want Ming. Ming is a 50/50 chance for a bust, the Bulls are looking to improve their team, which explains why they brought in Jalen Rose. I know Jerry Krause does some stupid s#it, but I think he is in the direction that he wants to win ASAP. Getting Ming, will set their rebuilding back a few years. With Curry, they know he will at least be a good C. The Bulls are not hurting for money either. Not to mention that Curry is a hometown kid. It would be a PR nightmare for the Bulls to trade their hometown budding star for a Chinese unknown. Plus, the Bulls fans are sick of losing. This move makes absolutely no sense for the Bulls. The Bulls would only trade Curry AND their #1 pick for a proven PG. I wonder how hard Getting Branded will laugh when he sees this thread.
so its laughable to possibly take a guy who could be a dominant force in the league for years but getting a proven pg makes perfect sense. i mean i know they need the pg and the fact they have a C sort of means ming is less valuable but i don't see how proven pg>>ming.
I have a hard time seeing anyone who gets that #1 trading it this year. But that said, my choice would be to keep the #1 and take Ming. I'm greedy, I want a dynasty (a Ming dynasty) and with the current team, I actually think Ming gives you a reasonable chance at a dynasty. Granted, he could fail miserably, but when I dream, I dream big. If he develops, there is not a single player in the league who could stop him. And only one (Shaq) who he might not be able to stop. If Shaq was coming out in the draft right now, would you pass on him? I think that Ming has the same possible upside Shaq did, maybe with a little more downside risk.
Personally, I couldn't imagine they would. But if they did, I am guessing it would be for the same reason they traded Elton Brand for unproven talent.
