    Same Situation.

    Replace Rick Adelman with:

    Tmac wants to play.

    PHIL says he's not ready.

Since I respect Adelman's decision, I guess that would mean I have to respect Jackson's decision. Hmm, must be talking to a different audience.

Hey, now. The coach's opinion matters if it's Rick or Phil.

It doesn't if it's Isaiah. Bad poll choices!

Apparently here at Clutchfans, Rick Adelman's decision making ,especially on this Tmac situation is not that well respected. As you mentioned in your poll, it could be a feud and people feel Tmac should play.

Since Phil has won a thousand championships, how would these same fans react if Phil does the same thing Rick is doing now?

If Isiah were the coach, Mac wouldn't need to play because we'd already be secured at least a 58.915723% chance of getting the #1 overall pick.

If Phil Jackson was the coach, McGrady would have been seeing a shrink daily.

McGrady is a little girl and he would not have been able to handle Phil's mind games.

Anyways, it's not about the coach. It's about a spoiled brat of a has-been player.

Which pick would have been traded to the Utah Jazz.

Yeah, I mean I guess that stuff goes on even up to the high school level. But ya know, from college on up a coach has to win, and generally plays the best crew that can get it done. Barring discplinary reasons anyway.

I just never understood the argument that the coach is intentionally keeping better players on the bench over something personal or immature.(even if the player is the one who was immature)

Not any more useless than the 300 "When is Tmac going to play" threads.

People who want Tmac to play could not care who is coaching this team, all they see is the former all-star sitting on the bench and get disgusted. They see the guy who was scoring champ, and the guy we brought in here for some rings. It's actually really myopic. They forget the Mac that missed a dunk, the on and off relationship he had with this team, the lack of leadership when he was gone. Now that he is "healthy" people believe he is so great he would fit in any system. This is why, in spite of what ever coach bench's him, to a McGrady fanatic it's the wrong decision. The constant argument brought up is that late game collapses/losses could be avoided with Mr. McGrady. The people who call for him to play have little substance to their thoughts, they rely on hypothetical situations and pure speculation. Tin, with this hypothetical thread, you are straight up baiting them to come out and bail out their star. Personally, I think if Tmac was really back to form, RA would do a 180 and play him. Let's see, what's easier to do: Fire RA or ship off Tmac's bloated ass contract? If Tmac was in good form and RA still didn't play him, RA would be gone. Scratch that, any coach that benched a truly healthy Tmac would be canned. Seeing as how RA still is the coach, I think he's in the right.

It's not the coach they hate, it's not even the owner, it's the decision not to play him.

    DD,

this thread hurts their minds, its too many people. Tmac, Rick Adelman, Phil Jackson.

plus the complex what-if situation as opposed if Tmac was 100% he'd play like an All Star mess.

It makes them think would they still have loyalty in what their favorite player says vs what a coach who's won many championships says in that situation.

Yes they are. But one isnt QUITE as well respected on this board, as evidenced by 40% of responders saying he kept Steve Francis on the bench because he hated him.

Regardless of who the coach is, I respect their opinion. It's the coach, they call the shots concerning the lineup and how long (/when) the players play.

    Nothing less, nothing more.
