I don't know what Morey's love affair with Rubio was, but John Wall is more of a franchise changer than Rubio could dream to be. The Nets will probably have the number 1 pick, and I think Morey should go after it, whatever it takes. What say you? The bad thing is that it's not guaranteed that they will get it, but if they did, Here's what I would do now:

Brooks, McGrady, Scola for #1 pick

    Draft Wall, and sign Bosh

    Wall/Lowry
    Budinger/Taylor
    Ariza/Battier
    Bosh/Landry
    Yao/Hayes/Andersen

Nets don't have Isiah as the GM so this trick won't work ><

i dont see the nets giving up their pick when john wall has the chance to be better than derrick rose or any other pg in the league.

Wall is the clear number 1 draft pick, rubio wasnt and was more attainable.

Dont see Morey making any strong cases trade wise for the number 1 draft choice.

Wall is a potential superstar PG. No way anyone who gets the #1 pick will trade it for any combo of players on the Rockets.

We can somehow trade Brooks + Scola for #1 pick.

Also someone sigh Bosh to max next year.

John Wall, at this point projects to be a derrick rose/dwayne wade type of player. Now obviously thats nothing to scoff at, those two are franchise players and game changers.

But I don't see why you felt the need to critisize Rubio when you obviously don't understand his talents and therefore the role and impact of a PG to the game of basketball. Have you ever heard of Steve Nash? Well Rubio is displaying Prime Steve Nash like play making skills at age 19. The ability to put points on a platter for teammates and practically spoonfed them easy shots is what created Moreys love affair with Rubio, along with the other skills he brings to the table. John Wall will never become an elite distributor and be the type of player that makes everyone else around him better, Rubio will. The question hovering around Rubio is whether he'll be able to become a NBA level scoring threat himself.

And no, no I don't think Morey will go for John Wall. He just doesn't have the assets.

No one has the assets. If the Nets trade him it would be the stupidest trade of all time beating out the Gasol trade. Having said that, expect him to be traded to LA for Sasha and Farmar. ;)

    1. Your title is asking if morey will got after him, but your poll asks if he should, not the same thing. You should have just asked if he would.

    2. How do you expect the team to trade tmac when he's going to be a FA then?

    3. Scola too will be a FA.

    4. We can't sign bosh straight out, not enough money.

    5. Thread has failed.

There's ZERO chance of any team with the #1 pick do anything other than draft John Wall. Rubio was not even close to being a sure fire prospect. Wall is.

    sorry, there was a 6th:

    6. No team in their right mind would trade john wall, unless it was for LEbron or Wade.

If Utah had the number 1 pick I could maybe see them trading. A Williams/Wall backcourt may sound scary but realistically looking at it would it work?

But yeah Utah would not trade the number 1 pick to us though.

It's too bad we won't have the rights to McGrady in the offseason. If the Nets do get the #1 pick, they'd probably be willing to put together a package around Devin Harris for McGrady's expiring contract. But with no certainty - I doubt it.

I think John Wall's an impossibility.

OTOH my gut tells me Morey hasn't given up on Rubio yet.

I think Morey's job is to go after the best players, if not he's not doing a good job then.

The Rockets have pulled big shockers in the past before, remember Steve Francis?
