He would immidiately start planning for next season. Look, it's obvious by the way things are going, and the way things are going with Yao, this season is all but over. It's sad, but true. The only way we could possibly salvage this season is by going on a long winning streak like 12-17 game win streak, and honestly I don't see that happening. The passion and fire of the club from that 22 game win streak team is gone. The passion and fire of the club with Artest is gone as well.. Our identity is completely lost.

So how do we get it back? Well, the first step is getting this fella back in the off-season!

Get it done Morey!! It would essentially mean that we got Martin for nothing, only signing Landry for a new contract. I honestly think that Landry misses Houston and he would be happy to come back. Obviously one player isn't gonna make a drastic change, but Landry would sure start to help!

Also, every time I see this picture, I think "damn, what happened to our team????"

Current team with Yao + Brooks is better than that team.

FIFY. Yao's not healthy. And I'd have Artest over Courtney Lee or Battier any day.

Can we pls stop with all the threads/posts about players we had in the past. There's a reason why they're not a Rocket anymore, so just accept it and move on. I'm pretty sure Morey is already thinking two steps of everyone on this board so just sit back and just wait.

Since Morey is smart, he has already started planning for the next season last season.

I've moved on, I would just like to have Landry back because he is a free agent coming up this off-season. It's just depressing to see where we've come since the season before last. Our toughness is gone, and Landry was one of the tough guys.. If he's a free agent, then why not go for him?

morey does a great job imo. obviously he has made some decisions that didn't turn out so well, but he's made plenty of great ones that make me feel like we'd be so much worse off without him. i trust him to retool this team the right way

I would say the biggest knock on Morey is can he construct a championship team. We all know he can draft pretty well (considering ), he a money wiz and is a very intelligent business man. That is all fine and dandy but can he construct a team the works together, plays defense and scores the ball on a consistent basis?? Thats were a GM really earns his money........building a team, a championship team and minus 50 1 round picks,30 trade exceptions, being under the cap, and making the team profitable. That matters but when does that translate into players that can bring you a championship??? that is Moreys' biggest fall back if you ask me.............IT IS WRITTEN.

stop jacking my material from other threads! lol

But anyways.. totally agree with you. We've lost that "edge" that our last couple of teams had. We were able to sustain even without McGrady and Yao and i think Artest and Landry played a significant roll. Having the ageless Deke definitely helped as well.

Anyways, now living in the present... I think we should start with bringing back Landry and Von Wafer - both played with a chip on their shoulder and could be the spark plug this team needs to get rolling again - although it wouldnt solve all of our problems, but could help this team.

Perhaps Jermaine Taylor for Von Wafer trade?

Even if he does start planning for next year, more than likely the lockout will still happen.

    Sucks.

... then this is a stupid thread.

Well, will you look at that! They're both true. :p

Seriously, though, there's this little thing called the "salary cap" with which NBA general managers have to deal. The Rockets can't just go out and sign Landry for any amount next summer without having to make some hard decisions about their own players. Sure, if the Rockets want to REPLACE Yao Ming or Aaron Brooks with Carl Landry, and if Carl truly wants to be a Rocket, then the parties can make that happen. But if you think the Rockets can get Yao, Brooks AND Landry for next season, that will be a VERY difficult proposition.

Why would the Wiz make a trade for 2 more PGs, when they have Wall?

Why would the Magic take on the contract of Gil Arenas, when they are already overpaying Lewis?

Also, not sure why the Wiz would trade McGee for Yao?

no it isnt. Yao is a shell of his former self. That team had 2 elite defensive wings (ron and shane), this team has none.
