I just watched McHale's post game presser, and this guy is weak. I can tell he's too timid to put players in their place. It's no wonder that him and Lowly never meshed because players know they can push McHale around.

If the Rockets want to win a championship, they need to get either Phil Jackson or Larry Brown. McHale might be a good Xs and Os guy, but he's no head coach.

Larry Brown is as bad a coach for a young team as you'll find.

Unless Lebron James is going to be a Houston Rocket, there's probably 0 chance that Phil Jackson would become Head Coach of the Houston Rockets. He needs a certain list of players in order to run the triangle, and he usually needs a full training camp.

It also might take away Lin's strengths, as the triangle doesn't require a traditional Pg, so all that standing around at the 3, well we'll see plenty of that with Lin and Phil Jackson.

    This.

I would have loved for Doug Collins to have coached the Rockets, but he has old allegiances to Philly.

Having a Van Gundy--either of them--coach Houston would have been nice too.

But Kevin McHale is still streets ahead of Larry Brown.

Look man, I know you kinda new around here, and you have the right to post whatever you like. But understand this, McHale has been here for barely two years with a half ass team. So do not be disappointed if he stays here for another 3-4 years. A change in coaching has a 5% chance right now.

btw best coach for a group of our guys

Please God no Larry Brown. He'd leave us high and dry after just one year. We need the next big thing. We need Finch.

Seriously, is there acrimony now between JVG and the Rockets' organization? Would he come back if asked?

Commentating ESPN games has got to be a sweet gig. Maybe too much to give up just for the headache of coaching again.

Huh? What makes you think Mchale is a good X's and O's coach? His offense is Mike Brown-like.

Seriously, his offense is very predictable. Spread the floor with shooters, Asik sets pick, then have Lin and Harden create for others.

Hes no Rick Adelman, that's for sure.

Yuck.. There are so many better coaches out there than Larry Brown - and that' coming from a UNC fan.
Anyone pictured in this thread is way superior to Brown.

Before you start making McHale - Brown comparisons you should look at the Lakers this year. The Rockets look like they have offensive sets and some plays in place. And a decent team direction. Even though they only had 1 practice with Harden. The Lakers look like they took their roster, poured them into a blender and hit liquefy for a good long time. That bad, and they had a full preseason to prepare.

That is the difference between a really good coaching staff pulling a rabbit out of their hat, and a really bad coaching staff totally pulling a proverbial belly flop.

Since a predecessor is somebody who comes before another, I guess I would have first killed Hitler (of course), and then traveled back in time to make sure that Phil Jackson in his prime was coaching the Rockets.
